Gone are the days when phones rang like phones. These days nothing distinguishes a ring from a piece of music.

Are we headed in the right direction, or is there some danger in using just about any soundbyte as a ringtone?

Personally, I prefer the old days when phones rang, not sang.

I say when a phone rings, it's an old phone, and when it sings, it's a modern one. It also sets some difference between people, showing their interests, etc. But I also think that when a modern has the 'old phone' ringtone, it certainly turns heads!

My phone still rings like a phone. Too bad I had do search for a suitable ringer myself, as SE didn't bother to include even one normal tone.

same here. the only accepteable ringtone from sE is the old fone imo, otherwise in nokia i use the "ring ring". i go crazy when the latest hits are used as ringtones, way too childish imo

I prefer to use ringtunes like doorbell sound or something similar, but not to use a famous one i.e "Nokia Tune". When I hear it, I see some people putting their hands in their pockets

I prefer to use rock or punk genre ringtones that start with the battery or electric guitar. But what I would like more is to make my own, but I don't know how to....

My phone is on vibration mode most of the time. LOL. As I always feel the ringtone is rushing me to pick up the calls.

I recently reverted back to the good old Ericsson "low" "high" and "mixed" tones on my K750. Doesn't turn heads, but hey, feels like a real phone ringing!
