I know, I know... There are others like this already. I was about to post this in "what was your first phone," but realizing that I was getting carried away by narrating my entire phone history (trying to follow max_wedge's lead) instead of simpy stating what my first phone was, I decided to create a new topic altogether. Hope to get a peek into others' phone histories and their little snippets or epics about them.

Nokia 5110 - 1st phone (kind of). My mom wouldn't let me buy a cellphone so my extremely generous cousin lent me hers. Unfortunately, someone at school stole it. A few years later I ended up buying her a Nokia 3200 (as she had a 3210 then). Better late than never.

Nokia 3210 - my first real phone. I wasn't really suppose to get one - won it from a raffle that I didn't even want to participate in. I bought pimple cream at this quasi-pharmacy/beauty shop and they asked me to fill out a raffle ticket. I refused but the lady was practically begging me to fill it out so that I had no choice but to oblige. a month later I get a call beckoning me to come and pick up my oh-so-wonderful-blessing (as my grandma called it) at their head office. I get my picture taken with my prize and go on my merry way home.

Nokia 3310 - was worth $190 at the time of purchase. sold some stuff to get it. classmates were in such awe of Snake 2 and Space Invaders.

Nokia 8250 - the phone that taught me to never use my phone in the toilet. you can pretty much guess what happened to it.

Nokia 8310 - saved up for this phone for a loooong time. (starting wih this phone, i was always able to get phones right after their respective releases as i had always researched the upcoming phones months before.) A headturner, really.

Sony Ericsson T68i - loved this phone. a pioneer during its time. won hands down over its rival, the Nokia 7210 because of its bluetooth functionality and more aesthetically-pleasing design.

Nokia 3650 - boy did I hate this phone. darn UI.

Nokia 6600, Sony Ericsson T616, Motorola V600 - had these simultaneously. loved the 6600's screen, but i kept accidentally dropping it because of its size. the latter 2 were free phones from the now-defunct AT&T Wireless. (though there are currently rumors that Cingular will revert to the AT&T Wireless name.)

Nokia 7610 - another headturner. pretty good camera. kept slipping out of my hands as well. too wide. (i have small hands - ring size 4 1/2.) had this phone the longest. went through a period of oh-i-don't-care-if-i-have-the-latest-phone.)

Sony Ericsson W800 - the phone which awakened me from my hibernation. waited 8 months for this baby. finally: a real MP3 player and phone hybrid. no more worries regarding not hearing my phone while i was listening to my MP3 player. petite as well (it's what ultimately won me over)! finally a phone that had everything i'd ever wanted - sans the bugs.

Sony Ericsson W550 - what can I say, I became addicted to the walkman series (which finally made me a true SE-enthusiast. never really looked at other manufacturers after the w800. none ever really came close. the rokr? ew.)

Sony Ericsson W810 - *sigh* fedex, where are you?

prospective phone: hoping that SE will release a camera-enabled W950. 3G hopefully, but not a must.

First phone : Used Sagem MC-922. Not many have heard about it, and it went "POOF!" exactly five days after I bought it. Nobody could repair t back then, and sigh, it was gone.

#2 : Ericsson A3618 : Remember the 4-color light ? It was just 'uber-cool and I used it for over one year! One of my fave ones, it was sturdy enough to take a thrashing, yet better looking than most nokias of the era. (inspite of the external dick - er - antenna!)

#3 : Nokia 2100 : I fell for it, and fell hard. Gone in 3 months.

#4 : Samsung C100 : Paid around 200 USD for the slimmest phone of the era, and shot to fame in college, with the "coolest" mobile around. It's still with me, in mint condition, and often works as my second phone. Perhaps the only non-SE phone that i *love*.

#5 : SE-T610 : Managed to procure a used version, Everything was great, but too disappointed with the camera. Disposed off in a couple of months.

#6 : SE-T630 : Also used one, got it pretty cheap. Used for around 5-6 months before selling off.

#7 : SE-K700 : Fel in love at first sight. Bought brand new, paid around 400 USD for this beauty, and used it for 7 months, before finally trading it at the dealer for the K750.

#8 : SE-K750 : The inevitable happened. Had seen the pics all over the net, and after having used the beautiful K700, the K750 looked ugly. I had made up my mind not to buy one. Still, went to the shop for a demo, was bowled over by the photo quality, the "twin-headlight" flash, and the "camera-front". One month later it was mine.

#9 : SE-T600 : This was a "downgrade" from the K750 - After owning one of the best phones of the world, i wanted an old-but-good second phone. Got the T600 real cheap, and am using it.

#10 : Waiting for the next "GOOD-LOOKING" cybershot phone. Won't but the K800 - its TOO UGLY!

very much enjoyed your narrative. funny that i somehow thought i'd be crucified for not having been a true-blue (er, green?) SE loyalist from the start.

Hi guys. . . My first phone was the SE T230.Bought it just before college started. It was the best we could find by the limited money. My mom didn't quite like it...my bro had this Samsung C100 that was ultra light, ultra slim and looked and felt like a million bucks. The T230 was heavy, wasn't of metal and had an incredibly dusty screen.I hated it at first but subsequently,it became my window to the world coz armed with a WAP(unlimited)connection,I used to spend hours searching the mobile web.Now I own a K700i.

Nokia 3310: I got this one just for kicks. Didnt open the box for 3 weeks, used it a little for a month, sold it.

Nokia 8250: When I heard that a blue backlit version of the 8210 was in the chute, i had to go for it.

Nokia 6210: I got this phone because of its WAP capabilities. It was really expensive at that time, i had to dial a TCP/IP gateway, at regular call charges!!!

Nokia 8310: This phone was like the apple of my eye, it had everything I needed at that time and more.

Nokia 9000 Communicator: Lovely phone, It was waaay ahead of its time, but increased my usage cost waay too high. I was just hit by the web syrfing bug right then.

Nokia 9110i : Got this mostly because of its more managible size.

Treo 600: I was always a fan of PalmOne, I got this Treo 600, and loved it instantly.

Telson TWC-1150: As a nut for Japanese Stuff, I got this, one of 10,000 peices ever made, too bad it works only on CDMA 2000 3G-1X.

Nokia 9500: I sold the treo after about 6 months and got this, This was my first phone with EDGE, and I loved the speed.

Nokia N-Gage QD: I sold my 6600 for this, used it for some time till I got me a PSP, at which time i sold my n-gage for:

O2 XDA Mini: The PDA2k had a 4 month life, at which point I got the mini, which was a lovely little phone.

Moto V3 RAZR: I got this phone just to see what the fuss was all about. I think I got the gist of it. This phone still lives on my shelf.

K600i: I cant explain why I purchased this phone (I possibly don't know myself), but i did like it a little, and used it for about 2 months.

Moto A680i: My treo 600 was replaced by the linux powered A680i, The linux moster in me got the better of me, and I suffered severely because of that, this phone gave me many a reason to pull out my gun and shoot it.

Treo 650: Glad to be shot of the A680i, i got me the Treo 650, whis I still use and love.

Nokia N70: Sold my 6630, and got the N70, came highly reccomended to me, so I'm giving it a shot right now.

I've had tons of phones recently, buying and selling faulty ones, but my main ones have been:

First (kind of) - A Mitubishi something or other, borrowed off my dad, was only for 'emergencies only', but was still a head turner as this was back in about '96 when mobiles were a comparative rarity and luxury, was on the old analogue network and had a pull out aerial!

Nokia 3110 (Not a 3310!) - my first real phone when I took out a contract. Nice phone, good battery life, quite sleek in those days! Had for a year then had:

Nokia 6150 - got this when changed contracts to Orange. One of the best phone's I've had, good batt life, nice useable phone, good looking (at the time), even remember playing a 2 player game of Snakes over Ir with a mate with a 6110!

Nokia 7110 - the 'slider' phone. Another lovely phone, first with wap, though didn't really use it as rather expensive. Loved the slider function, mates found it fascinating to ping things across the table with this by pressing the slider release button! Lovely big screen, and the 'navi-roller', shame this is no longer used in phones!

Nokia 3510 - First phone with GPRS, though still didn't use it! Had choice of this or an 8310, wish I'd chosen the 8310 as was a bit bulky and had naff poly ringtones!

Ericsson T10s - Got this when changed nets to One2One (now T-mobile). I have to admit I didn't like this phone, battery life was crap, had to buy a second batt. If you gave it more than a tap it would turn itself off, keypad was awful, needed quite a hard push to get it them to work.

Switched nets to O2 (still with them), got a Nokia 3200, also had the choice of an SE T610, but plumped for the 3200 as it looked different. Didn't like it towards though, screen was small and a bit naff, couldn't get pictures off it as no BT and IR wouldn't work with an IR dongle as it was crippled, and wished I'd gone for the T610. Towards the end of the contract, bought and fixed a....

T610 that had been chewed by a dog and needed a new screen and facia, loved it and at about this time joined Esato to ask questions about this phone and setting it up, etc.

Samsung E330, got this when signed another year's contract with O2, had it for a month before selling it, bought off Esato a...

P800, first smartphone, loved it! Very adaptable, loved geeky programmes like MiniGPS and the touchscreen, great phone.

Oops, turning into an essay, might continue later...

1st: Ericsson GH-198 aka. The Brick, first one... i was really amazed of the things i could to with it : D

2nd: Nokia 1610 to be honest, i switched back to the 'Brick' since i just couldn't get used to that antenna . . .

3rd/4th: And then came the second operator contract to my life...
Nokia 5110 / Sagen MC820
can't say much about the sagem, but man i loved that nokia : )

5th: A present from my parents
Until that time i had actually bought all the phones myself selling my old toy's : (
My father was really impressed when he heard of the Ericsson T36(Later t39m), but i managed to impress him with even more: The Ericsson T68m
And in early march 02 i Actually got it, my first phone from my parents : D

6th: Well since i was havin toooo much fun with my t68m, my 5110 decided to go suicidal, or something like that, the show was fun, but the phone was dead, hence i bought a Nokia 7110 aka. the Bananaphone for my second sim . . .

7th: Well i guess that I actually got emotionally bonded with the little thing, but an unfortunate accident wich included a car, a leg and a mobile phone stuck between them both forced me to buy a new one, and after some good reviews and suggestions from my friends in late 05 i got the one and only SonyEricsson W800i

I guess there will be another 2-3 year pause between my w800i and a new phone (damn, that w950i is looking mighty fine : D)

Actually, it would take me quite a while to type up some kinda historical synopsis of my mobile phone ownership over the past decade or so.

If I manage to do this, I'm trying to imagine what the total cost of all the phones I have bought in this period would amount to; on second thoughts I'd better not- just in case the missus ever reads this thread!

Now where's that handy 'draft' forum feature...
