Voice dialing problem with Plantronics discovery 640 |

Hey Everyone!
I haven't been here since my k750 was washed out in my pocket back in january. Couple of days ago I bought a w800 and today a Plantronics discovery 640. After recording a bunch of names it seems like the phone has problem recognizing the names through the BT headset. The magic word doesn't work through BT. When I plug in the wired headset the little icon comes up with the voice control picture and everything seems to work fine. Also when someone calls the phone says the name of the person instead hearing in the BT headset. If anyone using the same setup or have any idea about my problem please help me out. Thanks!!

Thanks Mathios!
Voice dialing was one of the reason I wanted the BT headset. Now I have to consider returning the headset. Cause taking the phone out of my pocket to dial then put it back and talk on the headset just too much hassle for me. I might just used my wired one then. |

The Plantronics 640 + w800i combination works very well in my case. Voice dialling works 9 times out of 10.
I have not tested magic word though. What I do is just push the headset button, wait for the tone and say the name to call.
Have you recorded the names in a quiet environment ?. I found out that this is important.

@Xema,
Sounds like you bothered to read the instructions. I have had the Plany 640 for about 6 months and have nothing but stellar performance. SE could learn a thing or two. I have used it with my z800, Nokia 9300, Nokia 9300i, and w800i. The headset works as it should with every phone listed.
BTW. I called Plantronics and asked for some extra ear pieces and and gel plugs and they sent them out for free. |

AFAIK, the problem is well known on many Headset and many latest phones (beginning with K700).
There's a thread (sometime in the past, approx. 1 year ago or more) that explains a trick while RECORDING the Voice tag (if I remember, you need to press the BT h'set button just before the "Please record" appears, and so on). If you follow that, the tag will be recorded through the h'set microphone instead the phone one and then, correctly recognized again in the future.
That's the only way to get a usable Voice tag.
Try searching a bit. You'll find something. Maybe the keyword to search is HBH-600, that was the h'set delivered with the K700...
Hope this helps.
Bye,
Macco

Thanks for the tip Macco. I look into that post if I can find it. I returned the headset and was quite dissapointed but I think the failure of my equippment not working right lied in recording on the phone instead of the headset. So if there is any way of going around it I think the headset might work. Thanks ! |
