I received my W810i from Vodafone yesterday. Nice phone, shame about the fact that they’ve absolutely ruined the UI with their branding. It’s absolutely horrible, to the point I’m considering whether to sell it on or not.

But before doing so, what are my options? Will I have to wait weeks/months before a new firmware is released and hope that that overwrites all the rubbish Vodafone have placed on my phone? Or is it possible to rectify the situation already through editing some files or something?

Thanks

The only physical branding to the phone is towards the bottom of the front. Whereas on a normal W810 it would have the orange 'W' logo, Vodafone have their logo there instead.

I shall check out those links as well. Cheers!

neither davinci nor tms have the branding-free flash files up yet

that's a shame; the walkman logo at the bottom looked really juicy

now that i thought about it, there's too much walkman logos all over that thing (as much as i love it). It'd be nice to see it subtled down to three; two logos in one side is just overkill. and the vodaphone insignia doesnt look so bad either! (though we dont have voda here heheh)

rabbitweed: can you post a pic of your phone and the packaging?

we dont have voda here (im from PH), but from what ive been reading online, voda seems notorious for commiting sacrilege when it comes to ericsson's UI. I've had my hands on a V600 and boy, was it fugly in all its bloody red glory
