png files problem |

Hi guys, Im new to all this theme making and have been trying to creat the transparent tabs, as you can see from the pic I have a png file and it has transparency, but in the phone window its not showing up tranparent. Can any1 give me an idea as to what im doing wrong? Im using photoshop cs 2 and im saving the png out as save for web with transparency ticked!? Do i have to creat an alpha map as well? its proper puzzling me!
any help will be apreciated!

Hi, you're not doing anything wrong. It just doesn't make much sense using transparency in this situation, as there is only a background colour and no picture.
Can you see a difference if you make the background black instead of the light yellowish colour? The highlight area should look darker then.
If this is the case, there is nothing wrong with the png, but you're just using it to blend colours.
You could add a non-transparent frame to your highlight and cut the interior, and the (light yellowish) background will be visible unchanged within the frame.
Just keep experimenting and something nice will show up.
