No, it refers to the calendar year. 4th quarter is October-December.

I work for CPW...we are half way through the financial year, just started Quarter 3...this is also true of the rest of the industry...when we get release dates refering to Quarters of the year it is based on this...

Q4 refers to the normal calender year. Why would SE say that the T300 would be released in Q4 and it is out now? I've proven my point... The public does not know about the financial year and stuff... So sonyericsson refers to Q4 as the months october, november and december.

Jeez,
It depends under which context it is being spoken. Even in financial terms it varies because different companies have different year endings. For a company that has year ending in June, fourth qtr would be the 3 months preceeding the year end date.

So basically, 4th qtr is the 3 months preceeding the year end.

may be true for the industry but your Press department seem to constantly advertise phones that come out 3 months after they're due...so teach them what a quarter is.

nice one Shibby

whatever circle your in quarters are references to the calendar year unless otherwise stated.

generally a firm will annouce fiscal quarter results.

fiscal year = an accounting period of 12 months.

to the CPWH guy, ask Mr Dunstone
