If you have a question related to Southern California or just want to say hello, this is the place!
Maybe we can arrange a get-together sometime and talk mobile tech, compare networks or whatever...
Jeff

Irvine here. T68i (AT&T), MCA-20 and HBH-30. Actually I do have a friend who lives in Mission Viejo who just got a T68i with AT&T but wasn't happy with it -- apparently his whole street is a big dead spot. I'll check to see if he kept it.

Orange, CA here! I had a T68m and now have an unlocked AT&T T68i that I'm using on T-Mobile. I have yet to see one T68 out here. It's very sad. ha ha |

I have a t68i with Cingular. I have had it about 7 months now. I am wondering what provider is best right now. T-mobile, ATT, or Cingular. I live in Orange and use my phone with my ipaq for reading email and web browsing. I should be getting my Jabra headset this week. I will let you all know what I think when it gets here. Please give me your feedback on what you think of ATT's GSM network.
Thanks,
Shawn |

Hey I just noticed. We have all three networks! We do need to get together. Not to mention that two of us live in Orange. By the way, my t68i is also unlocked. from the factory.

Hey ipXpert. Where in Orange do you live? I've had Sprint, AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile and Nextel. Sprint and Nextel were pretty good but you weren't asking about those two. AT&T sucked! I hated them. I've heard their GSM network is not too good either. I like Cingular and T-Mobile alot but I think T-Mobile has better deals. It's funny too cause I think out here, T-Mobile uses Cingular's network. |

Wow, didn't think I'd see anything so soon!
Cingular is annoying me big time right now. I haven't had GPRS in my home cell site for about 5 days. If I go just a little bit north (Jamboree x MacArthur) I get it back but not at home. They say they're having problems at my site and are "working on it". Very lame. Otherwise Cingular has been OK I guess. I wonder if the other networks would have the same problem if they share towers with Cingular...
My sister lives in Orange, Old Town so I'm up there sometimes as well. Btw my name is Jeff, 32, married for 2 years now. I'm a freelance web developer but looking for a full-time... We really should get together sometime and compare signal strenghth and all that. Let's see if anyone else "signs on"!

Hey guys! Good to see more OC people here!
I don't have any serious complaints about AT&T's GSM service so far, aside from their poor customer service. I get mostly 3-4 bars around here in Irvine. There're, however, the same ol' dead spots along Culver between Barranca and Irvine Center Dr, as well as north of 405 around Fountain Valley area -- apparently they use the TDMA towers for GSM. As for Irvine, I was told it's difficult to put up new towers here, as our ruler The Irvine Company would not allow it.
I get GPRS 90% of the time. Sometimes the phone will show GPRS is not available, but if I turn it off and on again it'll sort of refresh and become available.
Also I was recently in Vegas, both voice and data worked flawlessly there.
Does anyone know when will the P800 become available here? And which carrier? I need to catch up on J2ME if it's anytime soon.

Hey Jeff,
I'm 33, been maried 5 years, I live on the other side of Orange on the east side of the 55 fwy near Villa Park. I have heard that T-mobile has a good network of servers for GPRS and you wont get grps network busy as often as I do in Cingular. I am suposed to be getting my new bluetooth headset from Jabra this week(freespeak). I wanted a bluespoon but it takes 45 days acording to Expansys to get one. All of us in OC should hook up pretty soon. I am leaving for Africa on a safari. We leave the 16th of this month. |
