Does anyone know how to get you PC to make less noise, those damn fans have finally gotten to me.
Are there any programs to reduce the performance of a PC but the noise at the same time, cos most of the time I'm just typing up stuff not playing games. |

Water cooling is an expensive option, or you could get new fans that are better quality. Though most of the noise isn't the fan, but the grill/hole the air is being sucked through or blown out of.

If your into your electronics then you could make a fanbus to reduce fan speeds, but watch out that the computer doesn't get too hot.
Personally I just live with my noisy PC and turn the music up louder!!

An alternative is a simple software application that decreases the velocity of your fans. I tried it not so long ago with an old 2-86 pc just to see if it worked, and it did like a charm. Though I would not recommend it. Modern CPUs creates alot of heat and the possible consequenses of reducing the rotaion speed should be obvious. |

Some newer computers will let you set the fan speed in BIOS- try checking there.

if you want a quiet PC check bulletin boards on Audio PC's as they have a number of resources to find accessories that make your PC quiter due to it interfering with the sound.
