The backplate of T39 has nothing to do with plastics! It is Magnesium based and same metals are used in airplanes made by SAAB.

I've bought that T68m Lunar Grey for 60€, but the T39m is the phone of my heart and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a motherboard. One day that phone will ride again. |

I totally agree with you Tigas !
Right now I'm using the t68i I bought last week, and it cannot make me forget my t39. I guess it's a good phone, but as we are talking about the magnesium frame of the t39, this bloody t68i squeaks when I use it !
It's definitively not as rigid as the t39. When I play or dial phone numbers there's a horrible plastic noise that did not occur with my t39... I suppose it has to do with the possibility of changing covers too...
Apple Ericsson would have been better ! T28 WORLD and... T39 again !!! |

Well, guys, I'm now the happy user of a fully functioning T68 with 68i software, but I still have my T39m; meanwhile, I turned the T39m on after a week of rest and it had network, so I am still going to SE service to get the firmware upgraded to R4A008 to see if that solves the "No Network" problem. (There's supposedly a problem with a coil overheating on the R2something firmware, which my T39m has)
How expensive is it, to upgrade the firmware? The phone is (of course) out of warranty... |

The T39m`s are still my pride and joys. I still use them when I want soemthing small and stylish. In some areas I prefere them to my S700i or my P910i. I have upgraded the software in both of mine to R4A008 as I have a terminator dongle at home. The metal frame is definately a bonus. I have a after market plastic body for t39 that I have never used as the phone seems wrong with a plastic chassis.
