Is it possible to play java games made for k750 on a UIQ device?
I have read around here and concluded that for pxxx series so far, game compatibility is not high and playing with the flip closed is the only way to have control of the game keypad.
I have some questions here:
Since pxxx phones have a resolution of 320x208, playing a 176x220 resolution game on it will have the game centered on the screen with black borders (just like k700 games on an s700). Am I right?
For the game keypad, the directional, Left-right soft keys and num pad on the flip was used, Right?
Lastly, How do you think SE will implement this type of game support on an m600 since it does not have any directional nor soft keys (it does have num pad at least, multiplexed with qwerty board)?
Am asking these cause Im planning to get a UIQ smartphone soon to replace gadget clutter. I got lots of great java games (ancient empires, townsmen etc) and would like to know if I could still use them.

Yes its possible to run Java games and apps on a UIQ device. They will more than likely run with borders unless the UIQ device has the option to expand them. I simply cannot remember since its almost 2 years since i sold my P900.
As for controls, some use the jogdial, others do not. You can usually use the keypad but with the flip open on a P series, you lose most if not all control.
As for games on the M600i, i dont think SE intend the phone to be used to play games, its not its main aim. Im sure you'll be able to use the keypad like you could any other phone, but it'll be noticably less comfortable than playing the game on a phone with a joystick.

Thanks man!
I was also aware of the need of the flip to serve as the control pad for early pxxx series. The p990 has a thumb board, maybe those could be mapped to serve as control keys. I hope key mapping could be done on an m600...am planning to get one when it comes out.
It is really a shame that SE smartphones are not fully equipped for java games. IMO, mobile games are improving leaps and bounds and most of the improvements are made on the java platform. S60 also gets good games while UIQ have very few of them. |
