I have a SE V600i and i had taken the SIM card out and turned the phone on to try something. I heard a noise and turned round but then I noticed it was coming from my phone. I took a look at my screen and it said "Connected 999". So anyway I talked to them and hung up but then I saw my SIM card on my table and it dawned on me that I had called without using a SIM card. Please explain how.

Thanx in advance.

All phones have to be able to make emergency services calls with or without a sim. So you'll only be able to call 999,112, etc...

You should also be able to dial 911, 112 (not sure about the 999) even if the keypad is locked or the phone itself is locked. Just dial 911/112 and you'll see that it'll show up (don't hit send or you will connect to emergency services for your region).
