im on a contract with O2 bought from Mobile Shop.

it started 28th May 2005. Got my first bill 1st June

What i need is to know when i should cancel to fulfil the 12 month deal without them charging for a 13th month.

I'm on a cashback deal which i can claim after being on for 12 months.

I think its a month before the 12 months is up. so say your 12 months is up at the end of december, call them the middle of november to give them plenty of notice. Id phone them to confirm first though

You usually need to send a letter at least 28 days or more before the cancellation date, or youll be billed for another month!

fisho I dont think a letter is required these days, the last two contracts I cancelled over the phone, no letter required.

Yeah with vodafone you have to give 30days written notice, but when your buying a contract with vodafone you can take out the "Complete Freedom Guarantee" which means you can cancel the contarct at anytime!

The only catch is that you have to return the phone and that it has to be in pretty much perfect working order.

The CFG cost £10 so its a not bad way of taking out a contract and cancelling it when you wish.

I bet you didn't know that!
