Button problems with the k750 |

Ive dealt with this problem for a long time hoping a firmware update might fix it, but it hasnt.
Basically, sometimes - quite randomly, the little nobble in the middle doesnt register the right direction or doesnt register at all. So I can keep pushing down for example and nothing happens or sometimes it accepts pushing downwards as pushing it in (as in ok, progress forward).
I can fix it sometimes by turning the phone off and back on. I cant send it back to sony ericsson as my warrenty ran out and it would cost too much to get it fixed.
I know its not an actual issue with the stick not registering the movement because when I type a text message (and im encountering problems) the cursor stops blinking when I push down even if nothing happens! |

I think the first thing we have to do is to determine whether this is a hardware or a firmware issue. The K750 has certainly been known to develop joystick problems so my first thought would be that this is the case as far as your problem is concerned.
Is there any consistency to the joystick not working? Does it happen when you are using your handset for a particular purpose? If so then it might very well be a software/firmware issue.
Which firmware did you flash your handset with? Perhaps you might like to try flashing it with W800 firmware?
Alternatively you might like to look into the posisbility of replacing the joystick. cnn.cn has a selection of K750 parts for sale. Here are soem guides that might help you if you do decide to replace the joystick:

The K750 and the W800 are essentially the same handset in terms of hardware so they can use the other's firmware. You can flash a K750 with W800 firmware using DaVinci.

Is there a walkthrough anywhere on how todo it? The program looks pretty confusing. |

Thanks!
This somewhat fixed the problem, Im still finding it hard to scroll down though which leads me to believe its a physical problem too. |

You should refer to Max's (Max_Wedge) brilliant technique of rotating the joystick (20x right, 20x left), prior to starting up the phone. It seems to remove the presence of any dirt hampering the commands (provided, it's completely hardware related). In deed, his solution somewhat minimizes and resolves this popular joystick issue I found.

Its not a problem with the buttons its a problem with the joystick... There are already many threads on this subject. You have a hardware issue anyway, dust and dirt gets beneath the joystick and makes it work strangely and sometimes not at all...
