Well the phone was getting a little crowded so I did a master reset and now when the phone is on I have what apears the be the same shape as my signal bar, but ontop so it turns it into a little square.

What is this and how can I remove it ?

Thats the gprs triangle, you can remove it under connectivity.

the GPRS triangle shows that GPRS is available for use in your network. you can remove it by going to connectivity>data comm.>preferred service>GSM only. Thats for T630 cause I don't have W800, but it's similar with SonyEriccson phones. But after you choose GSM only, it's most probable that you won't be able to acces the mobile internet using GPRS.

You can select some option as preferred service as gsm or you can also select Gprs when needed.. Hope that helps..

why would you want to get rid of it, its not like the space can be used for anything useful

You can still access GPRS when you choose "GSM only", actually I do it all the time, it saves a little bit of battery life
