hi
the 7210 came out yesterday here, and one of my crazy friends was the first one to buy the phone, i tried this phone for an hour, and here is my review:
the design of the phone was fantastic, very high quality cover, there was GLASS between the keys in the keypad, and on the oval design at the back of the phone, the keypad was very nice and impressive, but between the front cover and the back cover there was a white and a very cheap horrible plastic, this made the phone look very ugly.
there wasnt a big difference between the size of the screen in the 7210 and in the t68i, screen was a little bit bigger.
the loudspeaker is extra perfect, not low at all, ringtones are very nice, but the sound wasnt loud enough.
from the inside the phone is really bad, the 4096 colors screen was very bad in the sun light, nothing impressive in the screen so its almost the same, the phone menu is the same menu in all nokia phones, no overall listing, there was 274 kb left in the phone with the pics and tones installed in the phone (everything is predefined), so the memory is very very bad, therewas only 10 color schemes( thats what is called themes in t68i ), you cant delete any of them or put new themes, ringtones cant be sent via sms or infrared, same thing with the pics cant be sent via infrared, u can switch the operator logo off, you can put a time for the clock screen saver if u want it to show after 2 or 3 minutes but no screen saver, alarm is very bad, calendar is worse, very bad, the radio was perfect, the games was very nice, and the reception of the phone is good and clear.
but i really wasnt impressed at all with the phone, what can you do with 274 kb, the infrared is useless, u cant customize the menus by putting new themes, u cant pesonalize the phone and make it look the way u want it to look, for an example that u r a britney spears fan, in the t68i u can put her pics all over the phone menus, in 7210 this is impossible, the covers are very expensive, they are selling the cover here for 90$.
so after using this phone for a long time, i say that this phone has only one good thing, the stylish look, everything in the phone other than java, speaker, radio is much worse than t68i.
so my honest opinion is that the t68i is much better than 7210.
and if anyone neede any info about the phone just ask. |

Well, its looks are ment to sell it, not its features. As long as the basic things work and it looks great you have a wide demand for it. It seems.
* Great looks
* Simplistic user interface
THAT is what sells wonders. |

7210 is just another nokia phone that rip people off by ........what a waste of the colour screen as there's no picture phonebook, no voice dial & voice record, can't customise own theme , same boring old menu.............and they sell this at such high price...............come one !!!!!!! |

the strange thin is that the menus are fast in 7210.
and dont be worried the price is almost the same price of t68i and it started dropping from the first day it came out.

Thanks for the review, Anas. I've got a few problems with it though, because most of your reasons for why the Nokia 7210 has "only one good thing: the stylish look" are based on how well you were able to customize the phone.
IMO, the key factors that should be considered when purchasing a phone are things like: the quality of the sound through the earpiece, the quality of the reception of the phone (i.e. how well it can receive and keep a signal), the real battery life (instead of the one quoted by Nokia), the expandability through accessories, the sturdiness of the design, how well the display/keypad is illuminated for low light conditions, and so on. I think these factors are much more important than whether or not I can get my phone menus to display Britney Spears photos, and send cute ringtones to my friends. Why didn't you consider these issues in your review? Your conclusion might then have been more balanced.
I think that people in this forum need to stop bickering about minor features and extra gimmicks that Nokia/Ericsson/etc. put in their phones just to make them more marketable, and get back to the basics of what makes phones good or bad. |

People want to hear about the extra features because that's what current models are boasting! What use would paying for a color screen be if you can't customize it? Why bother buying a polyphonic phone if you can't exchange ringtones? You see the point?
Yes, having a phone that has good reception and audio quality SHOULD be a basic... as is build quality and useful battery life... but that's not what you're paying for with the 7210... Nokia is boasting a full color display, polyphonic ringtones, and funky covers... so the public wants to know if these features are worth what they pay for.
If you really can't customize your wallpaper in the 7210...then having a full color screen is not only useless..it's stupid. The TV ads for the 7210 here in the Philippines are funny and catchy...but in the end... actually claim that buyers of the 7210 are losers, and their only hope of being noticed is buying a 7210... dunno about you guys, but I'd feel insulted if I bought I 7210 just cuz the ad claims that 7210 owners used to be pathetic losers until they bought one. :s |

The customer-profile for this phone is like super-chic brenda, 21, who generally just swanses around and checks her make-up every now and then. Even if the phone had 500 mb memory and an embedded version of linux she would never have noticed or understood anyway - so why bother with hiding lots-and-lotsof cleverness behind the menus? It confuses brenda and it costs too much money. |

Note that the 7210 is more than 160USD cheaper than the T68..
Maybe this kan explain the lack of those features you are refering to.
I i truly dont think Nokia is out to cheat people .. if you want to buy a new phone, i think most people buy the phone that they like .. and i bet they know what features they get when buying that particular phone.

Polyphonic tones can be sent via mms. But is that true that u can't set an image of your own as wallpaper or screensaver? |

@kostav
the calendar was very bad, i mean that it's very stupid and not advanced at all, so u cant even compare it with the one on t68i,
same thing with the alarm, no recurrent alarm or snooze function like in t68i.
the 7210 is better than t68i in colors, java, tones, speaker and stereo radio.
the t68i is better in everything else.
i dont recommend any one to buy this phone. |
