Ive been waiting with my breath held for the announcment of the k800i but now ive seen it,it doesnt seem all dat special anymore.I was hoping for that to be my next phone.SE have announced some good models but none for me are a killer.Im thinkin of getting the p990 but dont like the styling, but has everything functionality wise. What do you guys think?Should us people who want to upgrade wait and see what SE announces nxt?

In all honesty i am not dissapointed at all in the new line up.
The phones are looking good and the features are impressive. The only problem that arises is the delay on the releases which can be a turning point for some people.

If k800i comes out early q2 then I'm not disapointed at all.
I think its amazing that they squeesed so much in such light/small phone.
(Well guess one should wait and see what the phone is actually like when it comes out officially but right now it looks promising).
Also it's great that released alot of other phones covering diffrent segments. Only thing I'm disapointed in is that they don't release a hi-end clamshell and I don't expect them ever to do that either.

im not disappointed so far with SonyEricsson as a company.... done good feats for the past year...

my only quam is the service here in my place (Manila). Such poor after sales service, and highly unreliable techs if you ask me. if im dumb then they are twice as dumb...

but overall... SE is doing good.

Well apart from the look of the phone, i think the K800 is a killer phone!!!
But I didnt like the pics of the K700 but when i had it in my hands did I only appreciate its stylishness

Maybe the same with the K800.... quite a killer if you ask me!

What killer features or lokks are you craving?

I always respect peoples opinions, and I do ercall that after every announcement we get people posting dissapointment threads like this.

however, it still does suprise me given the number of products announced, and their broad market appeal, that people still want more.

Unlike previous times when there was one obvious choice for me from the range I am now finding the decision much tougher.

Unless make their phones from building blocks where we can simply plug the bits together that we want I guess the old adage of pleasing some of the people some of the time, but not pleasing all of the people all of the time, will always be true.

It depends upon what your particular definition of a “killer Phone” is?
Mine is a multi function device that offers a music player with good headphones, the ability to store carry than 300 tracks (That’s around 25 Albums) a decent camera, Video Capture, full PC sync, Internet & email capability, MMS, SMS, BT, IR, Games, good voice control facilities oh and the ability to make calls and already make plenty such devices in a wide range of styles.

The P990 is looking like my ultimate device and the style is pretty good in my opinion given the current limitations in technology what more could you want apart from a really long lasting battery, a built in laser keyboard projector and white light projected screen takes me back to an old thread

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=64418&start=0 two years ago my wish list was considered by some to be too expensive & a bit unrealistic. It turns out I was not far off the mark then & I realy belive we shall see 90% of my "dream device available within the next two years without wishing to sound like a big head I am not often wrong on these things (Too many years watching Star Trek I guess)

thanks for your thoughts ppl, dont get me wrong SE have announced some great phones recently, but what i think im getting at is that SE dont seem to take chances such as nokia for instance in the styling of their phones. For me the s700i was and still is one of SE's best models,it was different and had a very gud look to it and was a landmark handset in my eyes. But recently SE phones look kinda boring aprt from the w950 and the w810.Take the Black diamond if that was to be an actual release from SE now that would be something with some decent specs.SE are still the best though!

A killer phone for me would be a mixture of the k800i and the p990.
something like 3.2 mpixel cam, ms pro duo,3g,touchscreen,30 fps video,mp3 etc etc..all in a style like the s700 or clamshell form.SE have their software sorted out,no other brand has a better menu layout etc than se.They just need to work on some more daring designs in my opinion.

Hi mate if its purely a question of design then I have to agree, some of the new phones by (I am choking saying this!) Nokia are really smart and have a real "Quality look and feel about them" comine some of that with a genius for systems and I recon they would own the market! (perhaps a bit of an exageration!) have a good weekend!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

"Killer Phones" are a matter of individual taste and needs.
Complaining about delayed launch dates is a wate of breath.
Having followed the mobile industry since the early 90's I have still to see a launch of a phone being on date. That goes for every single mobile phone manufacturer.
At pre launches and presentations they picture a phone to hit the shelves a few months ahead. If they say Q2 it's bund to be Q3. If they say "early Q2" it's bound to be late Q2.
Promises of dates in this industry has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Not only do they delay it because of "a bug was discovered" but by delaying it a fraction they are able to messure the demand on the phone. That way they see how many phons needs to be produced.
On top of this; A small batch of phones are released first to trigger the market. This small batch is usually ripped off the shelf by those of us who have to be the first with the latest. We are, very often, members of some sort of forum like Esato. We run home, log on and start bragging about it. Questions from other members are answered and comments are made giving the manufacturer a chance to do minor alterations to the SW before the main batch of phones are sent out.
I remember secificly the lauch of the P800; It was two months behind schedual, about 100 phones came to Norway just before Xmas that year, and they didn't even have the Norwegian language as an option. A month later the main batch of phones came and, just about, all the bugs we commented on was gone (and it had Norwegian menus). I was stuck with Swedish menus for another month before the new SW was avalable on Emma.

Dissapointed in ?
Not at all! They are watching their customers through forums and picking up ideas and wishes. That we have plenty of examples on here at Esato.

Well, Truly the two Disappoinments from SE for me are
The Look (Imo SE never looks like the price it costs, I'll tell Nokia is a winner in that case)
The video quality (Just If K800 could do a video of resolution 325x240 I would forget every anger over SE )

imho there's no such thing as a 'killer phone'. There's been breakthrough and innovative phones (such as the T68i, P800, 3310 etc.) but the perfect phone is a myth.

I've had a load of phones, none of which could be described as 'perfect'. I currently have an O2 XDA2s/Imate PDA2K - does almost everything you could want, but rather bulky and battery lasts barely over a day with use, a W800i, excellent phone - screen not a big as the XDA, can't access certain websites like Ebay, but has 2mp cam, I could go on! And people may agree/disagree with me on certain points too.

As tranquil has said, everyone's idea of the 'killer' phone would vary too, what would be perfect for one person would be not so good for others.
