I am sick to death of being outbid by secret bids by PM, sellers should keep buyers up to speed as regard to current price. Also "supposed" bids by PM are just an artificial and underhand method of raising the price IMO!!

If you don't like the game...
Thats the trouble with this sort of buying and selling - but its also the same with ANY buying and selling. You go to see a car. The seller will always try to make you buy it there and then, saying something like " another guy is interested, so if i were you i would get in quick!" Unfortunately, thats just the way it is.

Yeah at the end of the day if your not prepared to go any higher it is just tuff luck, just stand your ground and stick by your offer.

Not quite so my friend, on ebay for example after the sale ends you can see where the other bids have come from and research their validity, Keeping all bids posted is so obviously fairer and transparant.
PS how on earth do you know whether to go higher or not when you CANT see what your bidding against.

This is the way it is though, doubt it will change, the best thing is to just buy off ebay if your not happy offering here.
Then again you will probably pay more there. Most people will say they have had an offer from pm and quote the price so that does give you an idea of how much to increase.

yeah your perhaps correct miss c, Esato seems terrified of altering the status quo and can never provide sufficiant reasoning for maintining such!! "This is the way it is, this is the way it always will be" should be its motto.

You should know that Esato is NOT primarily for buying and selling. It is a forum.

@mweb6161
You're complaining on the basis that Esato Market is an auction type one, which is not. It's not comparable to Ebay, so no "bids" exist.
It's a normal sale where the seller has the option to sell the item or not, to anyone he wants, with the price he wants.
If you really want to buy, just make a fair offer.

if i make a deal, its CONFIDENTAL, only the seller and me are in the game. its nobodys business for how much i buy a fone or sg else, i never make any deals in the public. and as many other members mentioned here, thats the way on esato. and i like this way. cheers

why would anyone want to make esato into a 'ebay type' site?
I agree with boba and others on that its up to teh seller how they want to carry out their sale whether it be public or private, if you want the ebay way, go to ebay dont mean to sound rude tho

Although i feel esato is fine as it is i can see where mweb is coming from. I sometime have felt that posting your bids in the thread makes more sense than pm'ing, it firstly means everyone knows what the latest most up to date bid is also it means that the thread is not filled with pm you, then pm back etc. Also i understand when viewing the site on some phones your pm inbox etc aint available if thats the case the seller aint able too see what bids have come in his pm etc when if they were in the topic they would be able too see them.
This is just my assessment of the situation and i think in future when selling i will make a point of saying place bids in the thread

bids should be out in the open in my opinion.
ruins the whole sale dynamic.
the only time's 'I' say I've had another offer is when it's from another forum, and even THEN I post the link to prove it.
