t-mobile sda2 using my Mac? |

Folks, I went and done a very silly thing the other day... I went and bought myself a t-mobile sda 2 windows mobile phone! (I know, I know - what a stupid thing to do!)
But I was told by the bloke in the shop that all the software with the phone is Mac compatible... the ****** lied!
Is there any software (3rd party or other) that I can use to be able to use this heap of crud phone on my Mac?
The store where I bought the phone from has a policy they do not replace any phones bought on an upgrade (Im UK based).
Now I'm stuck with a phone that I cannot synch or use with my G5.
Why oh why can't Apple just release a mobile phone?!?!?! (the ROKR does not count!!!)
Thanks all

I would go back to the shop and rant my arse off if i were you! Any company is obliged to offer a replacement or offer a refund within 30 days by law, i know if you get a contract phone it is usually 14 days, how long have you had it.
Jeez these people say anything to get you to buy.

Thanks Miss Copperfield. I only bought it on Saturday.
I went round this morning and asked them politely. They said a firm "NO". I then explained that they'd miss informed me about the product. They said "NO. Our policy is that we do not refund on upgrades!"
I then complained more and quoted the old statutory rights thing - and they gave me number for customer complaints. Called customer complainets. Left a voice mail 2 hours ago - no one has got back to me yet!
I called t-mobile. They said that its down to the stores discretion whether they want to refund my money or replace with another phone.
I cant believe how stupid I was. I really should have done my research before buying.
I'll let you know if I have any luck.
Thanks again. |

I've heard about pocketmac... but all bad things. I've read that the software doesnt really work. It fails to synch contacts, and misses out calendar entries.
I might just wait and see if theres anyway of updating the sda2's windows 2003 software to windows 5.0. That way I can buy virtual pc for my Mac and use the software supplied with the phone with, hopefully, no problems!
Thanks for the recommendation mate. |

You have a legal right to obtain a refund within 14 days i was unhappy when i got a contract some years ago i wanted to cancel but it was 16 days after i bought it so i couldnt.
Go back again and spout some legal jargon and threaten trading standards you have a firm case if you ask me, stand your ground, they have a legal obligation and besides:
mac + windows mobile = WRONG!!!
Good luck!!!

or http://www.markspace.com/
That is what I will buy when it works with my Qtek 9100.

Just tell them that the product was misrepresented and is not fit for the purpose that you bought it for, if you made it clear that it must work with your MAC and it doesn't they have mis-sold the phone and you can take them to trading standards. |

Exactly and anyway you are entitle to a 30 day cooling off period for anything you buy as long as you have the reciept, this is very very bad service indeed.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice.
The saga unfortunately still continues.
T-mobile have finally agreed to cancel the upgrade contract.
But the shop itself are still standing firm. I had an option either to be calm and polite to the guy behind the deak or to lose my rag. I decided that best action was to stay calm. I'm now in contact with their head office and waiting to drop the "trading standards" line. They are supposed to be calling me back today so fingers crossed.
I never thought changing an item these days would be such a problem!
To be continued...

You have a LEGAL right to a refund within 30 days, they have no choice or they ARE breaking the law.

Thanks Miss C for that link. I think I may just have to fax it over to them.
I've now got as far as getting t-mobile to call up the store to explain to them that they are willing to cancel the contract and that the store HAS to refund the money. Just waiting to hear back from t-mobile.
I can't believe how thick the people I've been chatting to are (at the store). No matter how many times I state my statutory rights they turn round and say "yes, but our policy is a NO REFUND policy". I then state my statutory rights again... and again... and again! But still it does not sink into their heads that they HAVE to refund me. I even went as far as saying that I really did not want to waste my time going through the legal process, BUT if I had to then so be it.... And guess what??? They still didn't understand!!

I know people are just stupid, i have to feel for the staff some of the time they get this crap drummed into them right from the beginning...
I think it is safe to say you will get your money back and rightly so. Just remember this is what happens when you buy a windows mobile.
Just kidding. Good luck!

Well, here's a little update...
After constant arguing, a million and one phone calls, and the customer service dept at the head offices of the phone shop acting like infant school kids ("No, I refuse to listen to the fact that t-mobile have agreed to cancel the contract...la la la la la I cannot here you saying this to me so it's not true!!! - a slight exaggeration on my part there ) it looks like they have definitely said no to refunding my money.
So, it looks likely that I'll have to be writing to the trading standards people. I have so many more important things to do with my day than this!
If the worst comes to the worst, I've located some software that'll allow me to synch the phone with my Mac... but now it's a matter of principle and doing whats right.........
