Try texting 'STOP' to the original number he signed up to.

First off, its not a virus.
Second, your friend has obviously subscribed to a automated premium service. Tell him not to top the phone up, and call Orange to cancel any subscriptions assigned to his sim card.

Humm, it does sound like your when your friend downloaded from that mobile entertainment serivces he has also signed up to thier services automatically which will charge you anything between £3-6 per month to continue to use their services.
Orange really can't do anything regarding services from "3rd parties" and can only find out the company details from the short code and give you their customer service number for you to ring up and request that your mobile number to be removed and barred from thier serivces.
You can also look the company name on the internet and get details about thier services there (by the way, the link does not work!). Or as JoolsG4 has already mentioned, try sending a "STOP" message to the short code which should hopefully remove you from thier services and receive any future things from them.
Here's some tips i found out receiving "spam messages" on your Orange phone which also includes how to remove your self to service you’ve subscribed to:

Hope this helps,
Regards,

Ok, glad that your friend sorted it out then. Beware of these kinds of 3rd party mobile entitainment services as most of them are SCAMS or will join you up automatically to thier services without you knowing just to get extra money off you! Remember always to use the stop message after you have downloded a product from thier services stating that your no longer wish to use thier services.
I had exprience of it myself after i replied to a "wap push" on my phone to download a "free ringtone" and i was charged £9 for thier product. I rang up customer services to enquire and they informed me that i downloded two of them which was bollox. I demanded a refund but they refused so i asked them to remove and bar me from thier serivces and not to receive any future shit from them. This hassle on the end costed me just under £12 in total on my bill and Orange couldn't do anything about it either.
I was not happy, but sure have learnt my lesson and now stay away from these kind of services from now on and do not use or reply to any of these "3rd party spam" messages that i still receive.
