I've noticed that SE are releasing so many more phones and it's turning to like when Nokia released their plethora of phones and you needed to buy five of them to get the latest features.
One example is the W550 and the W300, one has a good screen and camera, and one has memory expansion. And then you've got the K610 and the K600, one has radio and a woestick, and the other has no radio, no woestick and and memory expansion. There are so many more examples of this now then there were say one year ago.
I just want one phone, with all that I need in one simple package!

SE aim diifferent phones at different people. If you want the best bits of the W550i and W300i then go for the W800i. If you dont need the option of huge memory then go for the W550i and save some money.

I hate reading quotes by wap. Anyway sony ericsson need to diversify. They have always released two models on the same hardware. But they never did it on symbian til now. If all phones had the same features everybody would buy the same phone. By diversifying they interest more people.

that's also what everyone wants. in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with the way are releasing phones right now. just imagine, if will follow what EVERYBODY wants, then it will create hundreds of different phones just to suit each individual's needs...

I'm getting a feeling of 'deja va' with this thread, seem to remember an identical one a while ago, think it was when the W800i, K750i etc. were announced!

And there's been threads bemoaning the lack of new handsets from SE too, I don't think they've announced too many

I disagree with the general sentiment of this thread as I feel your are mentioning low to middle range phones but if you want everything in one package then you need to be looking at the high end range.

Apart from that I have to say that its been a long time that one phone from any manufacturer has provided to me, that which you are asking for.

for example, currently my primary phone is the k-jam. its big screen and great functionality are brilliant for work days watching videos, reading pre-synched avantgo, catching up with email etc on the train going to and from work, and for the general working hours reminding me of meetings, contacts etc etc

but come the evening and weekend I like something less obtrusive to go out to social events with hence V3/L7/K750 etc etc

Just goes to prove how hard it is the please the public! If the operators made calls free, they would just get the following acusations "Ah but the service was better when we paid for it , they give us free calls and cut the service its a rip off!" Not everyone wants all the functions of a top end phone, many cannot afford a top end phone. I think its good to have a range that offers people what they want to match their budget, Nokia gained its market share by doing just that.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

Well I'm not complaining about the fact that SE are diversifying, just that at the moment there is no real phone that fits most needs like the K750/W800 at its release. Now with rumours abour the new Handycam SE, we may need to get another phone for video/imaging plus music plus smartphone. I don't mind the current wave of phones coming from SE; keep them coming

I believe that the HandyCam phone will be reduced in other areas, otherwise it would be totally contradictory to the K800/K790, having better video but in features the same phone.

SE finally got smart or mustered the financial muscle to copy a good thing. No complaints from me here.

SE confuse me with their latest releases. No sign of a high end clamshell...some of us prefer them to the candy bar phones!
