Hi,
I had my unbranded K750i swapped under insurance by Vodafone UK yesterday, however the replacement handset is the heavily branded Vodafone firmware version.
No matter what I do I cannot get the phone into flash mode, ie get Windows to say that it has found a USB Flash device...
My first thought was that I had a cable problem, but I've tried another DCU60 as supplied with a W800 and that doesn't work either. We did try putting the W800 into flash mode by powering off and holding the 'c' button and Windows instantly found a USB Flash device as soon as it was connected.
Does anyone have experience with these new Vodafone branded phones and how to debrand please?
I've had a look around the net but can't find anything, this is running R1AA008 out of the box, with all the Vodafone bastardisations and it's horrible! I can actually use MP3 ringtones but for some reason it seems to be dropping the playback quality heavily - playback through the My Items view is perfect and crystal clear, but set that same song as a ringtone and it sounds awful! I did see mention on some Aussie forums that they had started allowing MP3 ringtones but I can't find any mention of the degradation in quality I'm getting here with either MP3's, MP4's or M4A's.
If anyone has any idea how I can get this handset into Flash mode I would be very grateful as I really want to get this back to the standard firmware!
The phone details from the service menu as as follows:
Model info: K750i
Software info: R1AA008 - prgCXC1250035_EU_2_CL R1AA008
LCD SW: 0
Camera SW: 4.5
ITP SW: CXC 125 932 R1D
Customization: CDA102338/2 R39A cxc125953 R1AA008 VFE_2
Content: PA19
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me as I'm at a loss here!
.: Edit :.
Sorry forgot to add a bit more... Just wanted to say that I've successfully upgraded the firmware on the old handset before so I'm familiar with the process, just cannot get this new handset into Flash mode... I tried hooking it up to my Apple PowerBook as well and that sees nothing attached at all when I'm holding the 'C' button down - likewise Device Manager doesn't even refresh when the phone is connected to a Windows machine when C is held down.
Also the phone stays off when it is connected to the USB cable with the 'C' key held down. It doesn't power on or give me a white screen at all. When the phone is connected normally it is detected and I can access the memory card etc, and see the devices listed in Windows Device Manager, but I have noticed that the phone does not charge if that would have anything to do with it?
I'm guessing maybe they've altered the keypress on this version of the firmware to get it detected as a Flash device? |
