Nokia's head of design is leaving! |

Nokia announced that its current head of design, Frank Nuovo, has decided to pursue his own design interests after more than 16 years with the company and over a decade as its design head. Mr. Nuovo will remain in the position until April 1, 2006, after which he will continue as Principal Designer for Vertu, Nokia’s luxury brand, and will also work with Nokia in a consulting role.
Effective from April 1, 2006, new Nokia Head of Design will be Alastair Curtis, currently responsible for design at Nokia’s Mobile Phones business group. Mr. Curtis, who joined Nokia in 1993, has a strong track record in bringing many award-winning designs to market.
Could this be turning point in Nokia's fortunes?..Will this mean better or worse designs?

This new appointment will of course mean a new way of thinking and new phones designs...we will know shortly if its for the better or worse.
This might mean the end to Nokia's brick image!

Never known why Nokia has had a brick image. SE have had pretty square phones in their top line for years.

Not sure myself actually but it came from somewhere.maybe somone can shed some light on that?
But i can see where they might have got their brick image from.
