I have a k750i which is connected to my pc right now and when i try and stop the hardware using windows "safely remove hardware" it says "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.

I'm worried that if I unplug it now, the files I have copied onto it will become corrupt, whats the best way to overcome this anyone?

Thanks in advance!

windows usually says that when data is still being transferred between devices. best to wait and try again later.

Just try a reboot on your PC.

I get this sometimes as well. But when I have all windows closed and Windows still refuses to let me safely eject the phone - I honestly think this is pretty trivial. What is the point of plugging the phone in, in the first place, if you need to wait a while to pull it out, or reboot?

The computer is there to make things faster for us, not imply such restrictions. If you know that you are not reading/writing to the phone, but Windows thinks otherwise - just yank that baby out I say!

If you do not eject the USB device correctly, you can damage the device and / or computer. I am having the same problem with my flash drive. Our IT department has disabled the ejection of USB devices for some reason. I was told that I need to shut off the computer to remove any USB hardware.

so, what you mean is that when the pc doesnt wanna reject the usb i have to turn it off?

but why when i wanna unplug a mspd/msd it is not necessary to the "safely to remove " operation?

or im mistaken.-

it would be best to use the safely remove hardware option as it may still be writing stuff to the memory

There's a probable reason for this problem ALWAYS, if u've two or more cd/dvd rom drives installed in ur pc, plus if u've installed daemon tools, this problem will be there, like 4ever...even if u uninstall daemon tool after the problem rises, it won't help. what i used to do is simply make sure myself that no data is transferring btn my phone and pc, and i just simply unplug my phone from pc...that's all.....no harm done till now by this after 1 year's use

Two options in this situations...

* Turn off the computer - and then remove the phone after shutdown.

* Log off - and then log back on, you can now safely remove as normal.
