I know, there's been loads of threads here about this but found no real answer to this one...

Nokia has this option as one of its menu items, not SE phones (at least the current firmwares). I tested and find the nokia feature to work on my network. (*not# prefix to get really detailed report used to work on my network but not anymore, they removed that feature).

So... does anyone know what code/prefix that Nokia phones send out to get that delivery report?...And if that process can be "emulated" on the T68i?

Unless this is Nokia feature is somewhat proprietary and is specifically provisioned by each operator...

Regards...

mmmmmmmmmm thats not a NOKIA specific feature there mate !!

its a standard GSM code which is *0# preceeding the message, the reason its appears more detailed than normal reports is cos its an actual report whereas the ones all handsets show is generated by the handset.

when the smsc receives and accepts the sms it sends a receipt to the phone so as the phone wont be trying to still send it, the phone sw then displays this as our beloved 'delivery reports'

so juts pop *0# b4 ya message n itll wrk, if not then ya got a faulty phone or ya need 2 call ya sp cos it wrks on nefing netime neplace

hope this helps

ummmm

im not bein funny, but u wanna turn on delivery reports on ur SE phone?? and is it by any chance a T68i??
if so i suggest u just simply select "Status request ON" as this IS the SE delivery report.......u can find this setting in
Menu > SMS > Options > Status Request > (i have mine on Set On Send as it seems to work more often)
This.....(as far as i know) is the equivelent to nokias delivery report thing that sends u back the message, however instead of getting a message back saying its been delivered,u will just get a little beep+vibrate that says SMS delivered to such and such,or on the other hand it will say SMS failed blah blah......
hope this helps??????

An other question... When the SMS has been delivered...I get a "pop-up" message on the T68i which says: "SMS delivered ". This message will be displayed for 2 of 3 secondes. That's quite short! I can't get my phone out of my pants in 2 or 3 seconds. I would like to suggest to store the deliver message in the SMS inbox, like the Nokia's. Maybe something for a new software release?

there's a few things one could suggest to Ericsson but they're not that sort of company, they dont listen.

took them this long to realise the consumer wants a phone without a protruding antenna, hopefully they'll improve the sms tone in a year or 2 then maybe get round to your request.

Under "Messages->SMS->Sent Items" you can see if the message is delivered or not.

Hi Titath, I don't find the option for "status request" at the menu location you mentioned...
"Menu > SMS > Options > Status Request >"

I think SE removed it in R2F004 for T68i. Btw, this option, does it result in detailed delivery report, e.g. if the sms is "buffered", or delivered with details on date, time, msg ID and recipient phone. That's what I used to get with *not# until my operator killed that code. Darn, perhaps its generated unnecessary traffic and they've not figured how to charge for it yet.

Btw, the *0# thingy, is that a "zero" or on alphabetic "O". Anyway, I'll try it. Thanks for the infos.

Hey guys

Looks like I joined this forum late, so you may have come up with this one already (apologies if thats the case), but if you wanna generate a delivery report on a T68 then just type the letters RCT followed directly by your message. For example, if your message was "Hows it going?", then just type RCTHows it going? and as soon as the message is sent, you should get delivery notification in your inbox.

Hope this helps you out!

Turning on Delivery Reports on the T68i doesn't always work. It depends on which network your on. For example it works on T-Mobile but not on Orange. In the Sony Ericsson manual for the T68i it says to put RCT infront of the text without any gaps. That definately works.

I can get delivery reports on items sent from the phone, under the sent items folder.

Is it possible, at all, to get a report as a new text message in the inbox, as with Nokia.

The reason I ask this is that I send most of my messages from my laptop, or PDA over BT. The standard status report menu option does not work because there's no copy in the sent items folder.

Thanks Shibby....
Anyway, neither RCT nor *0# (nor *#, ., ## also) works for my network. I believe that operator's changed or disabled them.

Hmn, I never realised that there's a menu option "View Status" under the Sent SMS folder. Unfortunately in my case its greyed. (Firmware R2F004). Wonder why?

My colleague has R2A in her T68i and that has the "Request Status" option under SMS and actually works. This makes be believe then that that feature sends out other codes to request for sms delivery status, probably a binary notation in the SMS "packet"? I don't suppose we could emulate that as an SMS prefix?

Darn I really miss that SMS delivery notification/report feature (especially the detailed on when prefixing with *not#)
