Rite, i got a nokia 8800 today, and thing I have round one of the most pointless features so far, when you side the screen down it asks you if you wan't to lock the keyboard, even though all but 3 keys are covered by the metal plate. Yes I know that if someone rings you you can answer with either side keys, but lets face it they are so small your neva going to be able to press them in your pocket, its more annoying then helpfull.

@luke - For FULL security I guess mate

I find it ODD when I had these Nokia 8890 and 9210is model fones then . . . they do have a foldable external antennas, which I think don't help 'much' at all, specially when you are OUT of the house . .. using it. [addsig]

@luke - Yeah, the scanner will be of great help, specially if you are in the Retail Industry . . . say, if you work in a K Mart grocery store and wants to 'spy' about the ongoing prices at Safeway Stores . . . the Sharp 902's scanner will come in handy! By the way, is the scanner feature has been a STANDARD tool for mobiles, say like that of Infra Reds and Bluetooths [addsig]

wouldn't the barcode scanner need programming first, otherwise it wouldn't have a clue what it's reading? Sounds like it would be useful in the right situation, but for 99% of users it'd be useless!

My vote? Either Push To Talk - seen a couple of handsets with that function, but as far as I know it's not really used in the UK, so useless in the UK at least!

I noticed on a 3230 i had a 'visual radio' function - what's that all about? Sounded useless - and potentially expensive as it asked for a subscription to use this 'visual' service!

to be honnest a bar code scanner is pretty useless as though it can probally read what the item is it cannot be used for checking prices, as the prices are linked by the shop to a bar code, if this was not done each store would need its own bar codes for products, so thinking about it it is really stupid.

anyone know how to turn off the nokia keypad thing?

The barcode scanner only registers the numbers at the bottom of the barcode. It doesn't have like a list of 50 million items...
It is useless though pretty cool.
The 8800 has that same as 8910i, 8850, 8890, 8855 and 8810
I'll have your 8800 thought if you fancy swapping it for a 3200

Most useless feature was the compass on the 5140/i I think, and decibel metre. The temperature metre is cool though.
