Just in time to beat to the P800, Sony themselves release details of the PEG-NX70V.

Given a bluetooth phone (and bluetooth memory stick) web browsing could be as much fun as on a P800 and the ability to use a full size memory stick would sure be handy, does anyone know what the Palm OS5 web browser spec is (does it support JavaScript etc?)
One other thing... why couldn't have announced the P800 and then released it a month later |

so what is the difference between these new ones and their first camera/swivel palm handhelds? they still have the clamshell, which isn't as cool as the flat, candybar shape to me |

Why do they have so much trouble back in Japan in putting on their PDA's and their notebooks?
It seems they really don't give s**t about that technology... And that is no good given the fact that they have joint-ventured with the company which invented it... |

How can a PDA compete against a mobile phone? If ever, they'd complement each other. The P800 beats almost every other PDA out on the market... except the Clie... when you need computing power, bring both... when you don't, just the P800.
Having a Palm M515 and a P800 is kinda useless since the P800 already has a better screen, MP3 player, movie player, organizer, etc... A PPC or Clie and a P800... that is a mobile office. |

The P800 might beat every other phone/PDA combo, but as a PDA it is waaaay behind todays devices. Do you really think that P800 is a better PDA than an IPaq? Get real, if you really want a good PDA you should buy something with PocketPC or PalmOS. Symbian software is still a long way behind.
Btw, saying that something that's NOT out on the market beats everything that IS out on the market doesn't really say much, does it?

The Symbian software is currently being developed as the ultimate communicator operating system. Examples: ///R380, P800, Nokia 9210

looks like an upgrade to the NRV70V but has a 200mhz processor instead of 66mhz plus other improvements.
Sony sell a Bluetooth Memory Stick in Japan that would probably work in it...unreleased as far as i know in other regions.
has absolutely nothing to do with the P800 though.

Sure, and maybe in like 5 years (if it stays alive so long) it will reach a level which PocketPC and PalmOS already have today.
There are also different user interfaces for SymbianOS. You can't just take a Nokia 7650 app and install it on a P800. P800 uses the UIQ interface, which is not used in any of the Symbian devices today, so there is no software for UIQ today. Nokia, on the other hand, uses Series 60 UI which is used in 7650, and will be used in 3650 as well as future Siemens, Panasonic and Samsung phones, so you can expect a lot more software for the Series 60 Platform than for UIQ.

PocketPC is more than a PDA but less than a PC.
A PDA is not supposed to be a full blown PC, you may as well buy a Sony Vaio U1 if you want that kind of portable power.
