i have a friend witha w550i and when she turns it on just a blank white screen appears...??? any ideas?

Try putting the phone on charge, then switch it on.

tried that and didn't work. she said it froze a few times then just switched off

Sounds like it could be a firmware issue. Try getting the firmware updated and see if that makes any difference. I've heard a few people have had this problem.

just to let you know ... none of them solutions worked .... she is going to take it back to the shop so they can fix it

Seems to be getting common.
My K750 that I bought about a week ago did this too, just got a replacement about an hour ago, hopefully it wont get the same problem.

It is annoying though aye.

I WAS still able to use the phone though. Heres what I did. Connect to charger, the phone screen will start flashing white. LEAVE it on the charger. Eventually the flashing will stop, and the "Charging" screen will boot. Turn the phone on, and as soon as the icons appear at the bottom of the screen, pull the charger out.

Dunno why, but this seemed to be the only way to turn it on, try that, but get it replaced/repaired anyway
I'd run a mile for a snowdevl!
