After buying a new k750i orange payg and registering my old orange number,(which ended up leaving both sim cards inactive for the past week) orange are finally sending me a new sim. I have the choice when i get the new sim to either tell registrations that its a replacement and continue with the number transfer or have a completely new number issued. I'm not sure what i should do. ?

well, if you continue with the transfer, you won't have to go through the trouble of telling all your contacts your new number. but if you do get the new number, both the old and new sim will be active right? depends if need the old sim go for the new number and if not, better keep the old.

hope it helps.

here in Oz, number portability is protected by law. Operators have to port your number at the lastest by the next day. Usually it happens in an hour or two. I always recommend keeping your existing number, makes it easier on friends and contacts, plus ensures you don't miss any calls.

Regarding simcards and your contacts, you can still access an inactive sim, you just can't make calls with it. So if you end up with your contacts on the old sim, just copy them to the phone, then put the new sim in and copy the numbers from the phone to the new sim. Easy.

Thanks for advice. When i 1st rung them, the sim update message came through straight away (takes about 20mins max) but it was my old sim (with the number i wanted to keep) which was in the fone and it should have been the new sim. Then they deactivated my old sim. So i swapped the sim cards and rung back. Explaining what i'd done they told me to wait 24hours.
But a few minutes after that, they deactivated the sim in my fone. So both became inactive. I then rung back using a different fone on O2, and explained what had happened again...

I finally made some progress after ringing Technical Support. They said they would ring me back. (50p min) within a couple of days. After hearing nothing for a few days, i took it to an Orange Shop. They said there was nothing they could do. .I had to wait for reply call. . Could take 7days.

The woman from Orange who did eventually sort it all out for me, and ring me back was brilliant. Apart from her+ the person who left me on hold 2 long, i have no idea why the other had so much trouble. . . Maybe they were new.?? I used over 20GBP in credit that week. And spoke to 6 different people. It would have been easier if i'd have been given a enquiry number, then i could have got back intouch with the same person dealing with me.

Since sorting my fone out i'd been buying payg extras from Orange. 1pound for unlimited browsing on Orangeworld. From 12midnight. But a couple of days ago i was told if i text ACCESS to 247 i could browse Orangeworld for 1pound, for over 24hours. . So i tried it. . . . Its been over 24hours now and i've only been charged a pound.
