Nokia once again made its mark by managing to sell 1 million 8800 cells ! No body expected that, not even Nokia. Why ? Because the phones are very expensive. Nokia poked a nice profit on each and every one sold. They go for close to 1000 dollar a piece ! That is a billion all together. Some small companies can only dream about that. Well done

Well done to them for capitalising on the style conscious, feature ignorant, naive and ultimately vain consumer.

The Nokia 8800 is just one of Nokia's over-priced model to be released to date, less features etc. etc. . . . . they were able to dispose it with a nice marketing strategy I think . . . [addsig]

It is a very nice phone though. Ive only had hold of one once, but the girl it belonged to loved it, and so did i. Shame about the finger prints and crap memory however.

Yeah, sure it's a lady's fone . . . as I've seen some babes at my end using it than males. The thing that puzzled me though is that why I rarely am seeing that model being sold in 2nd hand cell shops at my end, is it because the proud owners still love 'em up to this very day . . . .or only a handful peeps bought it [addsig]

Probably the first reason.

The same reason my mate is keeping his V3, even though he now has a new W900i.

For those who have with them 2 or 3 fones, there is a possibility that one of those is an 'antique' one, say like, the Ericsson models or old Nokias like - 6210s and 6310is . . . . me still have my T28s today! [addsig]

so u mean to say that all 8800 owners r feature ignorant?for u features/camera quality matter but for some the phone is a status symbol.in some circles what matters is how much the phone costs not what it can do.please do not underestimate some1's intellect by judging it from the phone they own. You've just said the same thing as me, for some people it matters how a phone looks and costs - they call that vanity.

I never questioned anyones actual intellect, just their sense of materialism.
