hi guys,

got a new w900i, using an orange sim in it (managed to get the phone unlocked+debranded).

tried to use the se configurator to get my o2 email working, but no joy. can't figure out how to do this manually ie where to put the settings+what settings i need..

has anyone tried to do this/can offer me advice on how to?

cheers

If you mean yourname@o2.co.uk email on the w900i, i'm using it.

Here's my settings for messaging - email - settings -account settings ...

email address: myname@o2.co.uk
connect using: the default wap GPRS account
connection type: pop3
-----------------------------------------
incoming server: mail.o2.co.uk
username: myname@o2.co.uk
password: mypassword
download: headers only (just a personal preference to save data usage)
check interval: off (again just my personal pref)
----------------------------------------
outgoing server: smtp.o2.co.uk
username: myname@o2.co.uk
password: mypassword
----------------------------------------
allow connection: any
your name: myname
signature: none
copy outgoing: off
encryption: off
incoming port: 110
outgoing port: 25

There you go

You might need to substitute the mail.o2.co.uk and smtp.o2.co.uk for the server's ip addresses instead of the names, depends how good your wap DNS is.

Start menu - accessories - command prompt.

Type:

ping domainname

where domainname is the name of the server you want to know the ip address of, and it'll tell you in brackets the ip.

anyway i just pinged smtp.o2.co.uk and mail.02.co.uk, and they both resolve to 193.113.160.13.

so replace the mail.o2.co.uk and smtp.o2.co.uk in the incoming/outoging server settings above with "193.113.160.13" no quotes.
