How did Laffen crate an HTML Lite version of this forum on a different directory, but still have the 2 forums connected?.

They would have the same database shared between them. |

Are you trying to tell me something there JC?..... lol
Edit: I made that comment as there were 5 posts with the same thing written, they must have been deleted now.
Can you do that with PHPbb, I suppose you must be able to as it states that this one is PHPbb.

I could also be done using an RSS feed which I know that Esato does have. |

There are PHPbb mods for forums which allow adds to be added. But the only mod I can find which would allow people to view a different template when viewing on a mobile is one which you have to add a little bit more code to the end of the hyperlink which will automatically change the style.
i.e after you have installed the mod, you would do thins.
http://website.com/forum - would take you to the normal forum.
http://website.com/forum-s=3 - Would take you to the forum in skin style 3.
however this is not as good as the way esato does it... how does he. I even asked on the main PHPbb forum and they could only advise me on the above mod, rather than giving me the answer I wanted.

You have the original phpbb for web, and two stripped down custom modifications for wap and html light. These last are made by laffen from ground zero.

Ahh right... Wow, I didn't know he made them himself. He should sell the codes for them... He would make a bomb, there are loads of people in the PHPbb forums after stuff like this.

There is a wap modification for phpbb already, and it's free looks almost identical to esato wap.

Ive seen them... but I haven't seen any way to run the wap or html lite versions on a different directory/sub directory without using the mod I mentioned earlier, and a redirection line in my .htaccess.
Although that is probably what I will end up doing.
It seems odd considering the demand for this type of mod, that nobody has come up doing it with the way that Laffen has done it.

Cos it is more inefficient, takes more space, and it is hard to keep track of changes.
Here is a demo of my new web wap system:
Web: beta.johnex.se
Wap: wap.johnex.se
The new version will be done soon, and it will combine the html light, xhtml, and wml into a "mobile" version which will replace the wap.
Availability: Not Finished.

Thats cool.... So how did you have both versions of your forums under different domains?... Did you do yours yourself from scratch?...
