Hi all,

Tried to post this from wap earlier without a huge amount of success. Back from Glasgow now (lovely place) so here goes again:

The phone book on my phone has got completely messed up. In the status, it says I have 284 numbers, but now in the phone book I can only see 47, followed by loads of blank lines with a speech bubble at the end. I haven't counted them, but I guess there could be 234 (the amount of numbers missing).

What's even weirder is that when someone whose name has disappeared texts me or calls me, their name shows rather than their number - so the information is definitely still there.

Following this, the text msg limit sign is now flashing, although I've deleted loads of messages, and when someone rings me the phone now takes about 1 second from pressing the yes button to answering the call.

Please help - I think it might be dying!

Out of interest which version of the software are you running? I have R2B025.

(To find out, key >*<<*<* choose 'Service Info' then 'SW Information')

go to Menu, Phone book, Options, Sync view - choose 'By first name' - see if that helps.

upgrade your software. before do master reset. But you will loose your contacts.
All this is happening if you are having old software and changing SIM cards to often.

Re: missing phone book entries, try turning your phone off then turn on again. Push joystick down, you'd notice that its trying to read / load your address book. Wait for it finish. Hopefully they all come back. If it doesnt get fixed, bring it to a service center 4 an upgrade.

Thanks for all the advice - sadly none of it has worked. Looks like I'm going to have to lose all my contacts (luckily I have most of them backed up) and get an upgrade. Might push for a T68i as the phone's beginning to fall apart anyway

Hmmm it seems a lot of people are experiencing this...

If switching the sort order doesn't work, the only solution is to do a master reset but prior to that try reading the data using PBTM or christersson's phonebackup or Float's mobileagent. Sometimes Float's will be able to read the "blank" data...

It's \\ NOT /// !!! Look at it sideways !

Thanks to a suggestion from Decoy7 I've just sorted it!

All I did was to remove the battery without turning the phone off... and then all the numbers reappeared.

Thanks very much

Just for the record, I had this same problem with firmware version R6A, but taking the battery out for 20mins and then switching on again has fixed it. Touch wood...
