I have currently R5A firmware and there has been no change in relation to the use of e-mail addresses in the contacts in any update.

The issue is that you can enter an email address in any contact but then, when you try to send an email you cannot retrieve those emails saved in the contacts. You have to type it again. What is the use of having then an e-mail for every contact?

Shoudn't SE add this possibility (as it can be done with SMS and mobile phone numbers)?

Yes, there is a use for this email field. You can select emails in the To: and Cc: when you write new emails.

Just highlight the to: entry, click yes, (Add name? window should appear), press yes, then the to: phonebook icon will apear, this time press the joystick to the left and select 1. Phonebook.

It helps much. I did not know about this "joystick to the left" movement. That is what I was looking for.
