It is taking ages for SE to get this phone out on anything other than voda, they really are dragging their heels.
o2 told me they probably won't be getting it, and definately have no record of it happening soon.
Carphonewarehouse told me it is not on their system as soming soon on any other operator.
I won't pay a ridiculous amount for it sim free and am simply sick of waiting for it.
I am now considering the w800i and possibly the w810i but that won't be possible until april say cpw).
Is there any new phone expected to be released before April?
It was possible for me to upgrade on o2 as of end of oct but nothing has taken my fancy due to being so keen on the w900i.
Will it be worth the wait or is there any other phones I should consider?
I want the w900i mainly due to the large screen and 30fps so i could watch tv/movies on it!
I have tried doing this on my old k700i and d500 but was poor quality and quite pixelated due to using quicktime to convert to .3gp.
Anyone with the w900i is the video pixelated when watching a movie and would this be due to the converter (or do u watch it in .mp4 files)?
I am a bit confused!

You can pick up a W900i on O2 at reasonable prices already.

This subject has had alot of different comments and replies. Vodafone did have the exclusive release on the W900i but other network providers will be releasing this handset but they can't confirm a date. I couldn't quite decide which one to buy so i bought a W800i & a W900i. The W800i is sim free but as you are already aware the W900i (white) is locked to Vodafone. I simply had it unlocked and more importantly de-branded. I am very satisfied with the capabilities of both handsets but the W900i is amazing. I have always owned a Sony Ericsson handset but as technology increases so do there products. I have a W550i also (bit of a collector of se handsets) This too has diferent features.
Instead of waiting for release dates buy yourself a brand new white W900i and have it unlocked&de-branded even if you are in contract.
Like i say that's what i did.

I would love to get the w900i in white and debrand it, but it just seems like a shame to have waited this long for it to be released on other networks (and more importantly in black, which imo is much nicer) when i could have bought it a while ago and done this.
Was thinking of the w800i instead but don't like the cream colour and joystick, would rather wait for the nicer coloured w/o joystick w810i but that would be another two months.
There always seems to be something better around the corner. Bloody SE!

LOL - why do you blame SE ?

There will allways be something new around the corner, technology will never stop. Should SE stop making phones when you or someone else deside on a model, to ensure you keep having the latest model?
Release of phones are also not only up to SE but more importantly these days up to the networks, if you do not want to pay full price and buy sim free, but need to buy on contract with your networkprovider, then rather complain about your networkprovider not ensuring a deal of delivery from SE. You can hardly blame SE for that.

It was sarcasm, you seriously think i'm having a go at SE for keeping releasing good phones on a regular basis?

As mentioned in my previous post i have several se handsets. I am currently using a W800i and a W900i, You mentioned waiting for a black W900i to be released. Why black? Do you not think there are already to many black handsets out there? They say that white is limited edition, i don't know about that but it certainly stands out and currently in my area everybody is going mad for the white Sony psp. I must admit when i got my W900i i was appauled by all the Vodafone crap that was programmed into it, but as also mentioned i soon got rid of it ALL. I absolutely love this handset and of course if you are compairing it against other se handsets the higher the model number the better they get. I have played with a W810i but they are simply a W800i in black with a different keyboard. They also have hardly any handset memory. Getting back to the W800i the colour regime is brilliant, excellent two tone. Anyway enough of me rambling on. The decision is yours....

I don't really like the whole white thing. I am a proud user of an emac and ipod and don't really like the whole 'all gadgets have to be white cos the ipod is white' thing.
Did your w900i in white come with a red written vodafone logo at the bottom of the screen? That's what really bugs me about the branding, when it can't be removed as it is actually borne in to the handset!
Anyways, hopefully i'll have a black w900i before long, because by all accounts it looks like a superb phone!

Its a case of personal preference. I agree slightly with the ipod thing. You are also completely correct regarding the Vodafone logo embossed onto the handset and covered by the outer screen. I could of acquired a black version for the same price as my white but like i say each to your own.

Having just returned from Belgium i noticed a W900i in a service providers shop window (B Mobistar) The first thing i noticed was the price (599 euros) But as it was twirling round on its stand i could of sworn i saw a logo embossed into the screen???
