'Insert Sim' Problem. |

Hi,
I have a Sony Ericsson K750i with the latest firmware R1AA008.
In the past I used to have this problem where i would turn on my phone, or if its already on, i would look at it and it would say 'Insert Sim'. Now this eventually stopped and the phone was working as normal, but recently its started again, and i can't access the actual phone because of this.
Is this a problem with the sim card itself, a firmware issue that has not yet been fixed by Sony Ericsson or is there a way to fix it manually?
Thankyou very much for any help...

If you remove the sim.. on the phone there are 6 gold contact points... take a cotton bud and rub any dust/dirt off them
I dont mean "contacts" in the sense of people you know, phone numbers etc
Not sure if this will work, just a shot in the dark but worth a try

lol sorry about that .
still didn't work, and i did see that there are three quite heavy looking line marks where the metal bits inside the phone sticking up touch the sim card. are they normal?
thanks for the thoughts anyway
any other ideas... anyone?

I think it's a SIM card problem. If you cleaned the contatcts and no result .. try with another SIM.
Hope this works.

Maybe the simcard is loose, try to ensure the contact between the simcard and the phone is firm. Are your contacts stored in your phone or simcard? Try using another simcard and see if it has the same problem. If all else fails, bring it to the service centre and see if they can retrieve the contacts for you.

it may be that the sim card is not connecting properly with the phone, i may try some things. i think i now know that this is not a problem with the sim itself, since i tried my dads sim card and i got the same problem, and that card is pretty much perfect (new). i'm a bit suspicious since the problem only started when i downloaded the r1n035 firmware, but that could just be a coincidence.
thanks for all the replies...

my phone just randomly came back on, works now...
but no doubt that in a few days or weeks it will do it again.
gonna try a hand it in for a brand new one,
and after that i'll decide wether to keep it or sell it.

I had the same problem with a Nokia 7250i. And it mainly said 'insert sim' whenever i went outside. I changed the cover, which worked a bit, but what solved the problem in the end was i put a strip of tape around the battery. I know it sounds daft but i havnt had the problem since. My daughter has the fone now.

The other thing to try is put a small folded piece of paper between the sim card and batt to increase the contact between the sim and reader, also ensure all screws are tightened properly

cheers...
mines actually stopped now since i recently got a replacement k750 as my last one had countless problems, which i am about 99% sure was because of the firmware. this new phone has the newest firmware, but obvioulsy because its new and se have upgraded it, it works fine. bugs just seem to get introduced when firmware is put online for downloading.
