Hi, I am here in LA for my internship and have noticed that today the GPRS availability icon was on my t68m (upgraded )
I tried with the settings that were written on a topic somewhere here but it didn't work...(the phone was connecting, but it took ages and at the end there were 0 bytes sent and 0 received)
Is there anyone who can tell me if there is something extra to pay to activate the feature (I am on a normal plan, don't know which one because the SIM is not mine, but it is not a pre-pay SIM)?
And can someone be so kind as to write the settings again, or at least give a link to where this settings can be found. It would be perfect if there was some sort of SMS installation as back in Switzerland, but anyway...
And how much does Cingular charge for SMS (received and sent).
Thank you very much for your help.

Another question... Does anyone have a price plan for GPRS surfing with cingular? Is it possible to have an e-mail account (already existing back in Switzerland) and use it on my t68?
I mean: can I use the account from my mobile operator in CH but connect through Cingular GPRS?
Guess I asked everything now... Cheers

call 1-800-cingula [r]
ask them to provision the use of gprs [wix2] in your handset[ assuming it's not prepaid] and u'll be able to access most likely everything.
about the emaiL, i dont know if you're talking about the built in client from your t68. if it is, im only aware of t-mobile supporting it at the moment.

...just read the whole post.
just tell them to add gprs, u'LL be fine.
if it's an oLd sim, i recommend that u use CSD/wap instead of gprs because cingular and most of the service providers in the us still doesnt not have gprs in it's full potential. u will not even notice the difference in terms of speed because of the overheads.
depending on which plan u got, the present cingular plan charges 10c for both outgoing and incoming sms.

Cingular has SMS packagge at $4.99/mo for like 500 messages a month.
I think I pay ~$8/mo for 1mb of gprs data.

Wireless Internet just uses GSM CSD (dialup - uses minutes) while the Wireless Internet express uses GPRS (pay per byte).

Hi, thanks for your help. I called Cingular and they told me that everything is ready and they had no idea what is wrong and why I am getting this error: GPRS parmaters not supported. I set up my GPRS on T68i a long time ago may be I missed some settings that were not important if you connect to GPRS using a phone (which I do without any problems) but different if you want to connect your Pocket PC or Palm. ANyway where could I found those settings you are talking about?
Thanks. |
