Hello,
Based on the IMEI-number of a cellphone you can tell which country is was made for, the manufactor, the phone-model, etc..
But where on the Internet can you find a list of the different number?

@leprechaun
Is that site secure? Sounds like a good way to supply important info to strangers. IMEI numbers could be dangerous in the wrong hands.

to said the truth, i don't know. but i believe, it's secure.
why do you think your imei number could be in danger in these hands? the only insecure issue with imei i see, that somebody "steals" my imei for his phone, so i would not be able to register into network with my phone ... and for this i believe this site. |

Here is an xample of what someone can do with this sort of info. Yes I know this incident involved landlines, but its not inconcieveable that a mobile could be used in the same way.
@ECS
Good idea, only the other thread seems to have died and THIS ONE was the original anyway.

this's what i was talking about ... someone changes imei of his phone and use your one and as two phones with the same imei can't be registered in one network, one phone of these 2 phones fails to operate ... that's all |

the simcard is not in anyway locked to the IMEI number, since you can switch sim card in your phone and still use it.... |
