Cheap 3.5mm stereo adapter - mic problem - k750i |

I boutght one of those cheap 3.5mm stereo adapters (without a mic) from ebay to be able to listen to my music from the phone in the car. now when the phone rings, the music stops playing ( expected ) and when i answer the call, i can hear the person talking to me from the car speakers ( very cool !! ) but i can't talk because the internal mic of the K750i is disabled.. is there a way to tell the mob that the internal mic must be active?? even if the solution requires hardware problems such as short circuiting pins or stuff like that. Really appreciate any help . thanx |

When you plug the 3.5mm adapter, you actually tell your mob that hands free is now connected. It's done by short circuiting pins #8 and #9 inside the plug. This act switches microphone to the external one, because it thinks you just connected the original handsfree. So the answer is No, you cannot enable your onboard mic with handsfree attached.

search for the threads discussing modding a normal handsfree into a hpm-70 (ie: add a 3.5 mm jack to you handsfree, keeping the existing mike). Then you'll have home made HPM-70 for a few dollars

Actually, there are cheap 3rd party adapters that do the job nicely. With the mic built into it of course. They're available over here for a few dollars.

Here's the pin layout in case you will need it:
1. USB +5V
2. headphones common
3. SWITCH, microphone +
4. SWITCH, microphone -
5. Left
6. right
7. n.c.
8. with the FSE with GND short circuit, USB cable - open. (1k? resistor to GND(pin 9) -> serial)
9 GND (longer contact)
10. USB data (Serial data Rx (to phone))
11. USB data (Serial data Tx (from phone))
12. +5V from the battery charger. |

With the ones *with* the microphone, where is the actual microphone located? |

why don't you just get a HPM-70, they come in silver or black now, which will match the k750i
I have one for my k750i for car use with a tape adaptor with 3.5 jack (may upgrade to headunit adaptor later) Its quite cool actually, its like I got a handsfree calling system without buying one and playing music from my phone!!
You have a $300 phone, why buy a cheap no-name accessory. Go genuine OEM Sony Ericsson!!
