Today Microsoft announced that it has struck a licensing deal with Sony Ericsson that covers its ActiveSync protocol. This will allow new Sony Ericsson devices, such as the M600i that was announced today, to sync directly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. For installations running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2, the devices will be able to receive push email as well.
Microsoft already has ActiveSync licensing agreements with Nokia, Motorola, and Palm, among others.
