Hey, I'm probably going to buy a HCH-40 v800 in-car cradle and I already have a car charger but its not genuine, from the various things I've gathered from searching this forum I have to get a genuine car charger if I want it to switch to in car mode, is that right? also when in car mode can you get it to answer a call by pressing any button and the conversation coming out the loud speaker and you talking to them from it sitting in the cradle? or do you have to get a bluetooth headset?
Thanks in advance |

To go into Car mode you need a HCA-10 HCA-20 or HCA-200 car kit connected to the phone. A genuine CLA11 car charger will not make it go into car mode.

I've had a closer look at it and it appears the cradle has the points in the bottom already to plug into the phone, does this mean that it comes with the cigarette plug? if so wouldn't that put it all into car mode? |

As I stated you need to have the HCA car kit plugged into the phone for it to go into car mode. It is because the phone recognises the car kit and not the holder. The cigarette charger is only recognised as a charger.

There is no HCA car kits listed for the V800, are you sure your not talking about what just applies to your phone?

Those accessories didn't come up for my country, bit bloody extravagant just to get the phone to switch to in car mode anyway. |

Most phone manufacturers do the same. To go into car mode on a lot of nokias you had to either use a car kit or short out 2 pins on the connector. |

So what actually is the purpose of the cradle by itself? they might as well include it in that package cause there is no point having the cradle by itself you might as well just put your phone on the centre console somewhere or pocket. |

The cradle by itself holds the phone and makes it easier to see who is calling you. It allows easy connection of a headset and car charger. It also lets you plug in an external aerial for better reception.
SE sell the holder seperately so that you buy the handsfree kit and then add the appropriate cradle for your phone. It also means that you can change the cradle when you change the phone and you dont have to change the whole car kit which would cost a lot more. |

If I put it in car mode manually can you get it to answer a call by pressing any button and the conversation coming out the loud speaker and you talking to them from it sitting in the cradle? or do you have to get a bluetooth headset? |
