"SIM Inactive" problem with W900 |

I bought myself a shiny new W900 last week. It's unbranded and I decided to for now use it with my Vodaphone SIM. This SIM has worked fine in both my W800 and my V800.
However, since I started to use the W900 I have a problem that when the phone has limited connection it inactivates the SIM and all I see is "SIM Inactive" on the screen. I then have turn the phone off and on again to get it to find the Vodafone net again.
It's very irritating since at work some rooms have quite bad reception and also on my way home on the train I pass an area where I usually have no net. My other phones always switched to "Emergency calls only" mode and then just reaquired the net again as soon as it could.
Has anyone else noticed this with the W900?
On a unrelated note I visited a Vodafoner store here in Stockholm and heard one of the guys there tell a customer that the W900 is the first Ericsson phone they haven't branded yet here since they felt it was way to buggy.
It's a cool phone but thisis driving me nuts since I've missed a few calls since I didn't notice it loosing the net.

sim inactive means that the sim card is not registered on the network. it's not to do with the handset at all.
any chance that this new handset you've got came with a sim card? if it didn't ring vodafone and ask them to confirm that the sim card you have (you'll need the long sim card number written on the side) is attached to your mobile number.
chances are, it isn't.

Thing is that this SIM has worked fine in a W800 and a V800 until I switched to the W900 last week. Also it seems to work fine as long as I have a good signal but when the signal is getitng weak it goes into "SIM Inactive". in fact, I've never seen it go into the normal "Emergency calls only" mode that I get with the other phones.
There's a spot on the train between Stockholm and Huddinge where there is no recenption and I've seen this happen almost everytime there.
Very odd really. Gonna check with Vodafone if they can get me a new SIM. This SIM is a year old.
Oh, and I bought it unbranded in a store without a subscription (since I already have a vodafone sub and they don't sell the handset in their stores) so I got no SIM with it.

The same thing happened to me once with my w800i and I also had to turn it off and on to have it working again. However, the problem has never occured again. |

well, you are not alone, when I bought my unbranded W900i, I got a brand new sim from vodafone, and almost every day it inactivates itself, I think this is a bug, and I hope they will fix this in the next update! |

Misery loves company .
At least I know I'm not alone. This is really becoming a problem. I have to check my phone quite regularly so it hasn't gone inactive on me.
I'm gonna extend my sub with Vodafone today a year and gonna pick up a second phone at the same time and use that temporarily while waiting for this bug to be fixed.
Otherwise the W900 is a very nice phone.

Unfortunately the "SIM Inactive" problem is now very bad on my phone. No way to get it working again. Turn off and on, take the battery out, master reset... everything I could think of, but the SIM Inactive message is still there.
Also tryed another SIM card but the problem persists...
Any other ideas before I send my handset to the service center ?

My problem has gone now. Since I had so much problems I got a Nokia n70 when I extended my contract with Vodaphone and used that for a while (very nice phone BTW). Yesterday I decided to test the W900 again and now it works fine.
It's possible the problem was with Vodaphone. In my case the SIM inactivity error seems to have come up when the phone lost 3G-coverage and switched to GSM only.
Nothing has been updated on the phone so it has to be something else that fixed it.
