I always thought that this 160 character limit is due to the equipment being used by the service providers.

what akalias2k6 is referring to is the number of SMS (text) messages that be stored in your Inbox which is limited to 200 text messages and NOT the number of characters that can be typed in an SMS or a text message which is up to 160 charaters only.

hope it works too.

Ok. Now I get it.

I couldn't open that link on my W9. But now that I have my laptop with me, I can see what the fuss is all about.

I had a look at this, even downloaded the clossy paper in pdf format, but nowhere does it show you exactly step-by-step on how to do it. It only shows you snazzy before and after photos and screenshots.

Until a step-by-step guide is supplied, I dont think anyone would try it. I downloaded the SETool but could not even figure out how to use it. The instructions on that web page is meaningless as I cannot even figure out how to get to that place where you're supposed to replace content in the /ifs/settings/messaging/pref_store.txt file from "/smsdata" to "/tpa"

Personally I would like to have this feature as I send and receive a lot of text messages every day. I use that 200 limit up in less that 2 weeks, so yeah I'm very interested in this phone hack.

If I could draw your attention to this thread, where we're having similar problems.

I too got my hands on the cracked program, but am having zero success in translating the instructions into gold!
