From Nokia to Sony-Ericsson - |

I've always been a Nokia-guy, but a few months ago my company decided that we should all have a SE K570i.
- "Cool", was my first response, since I've heard so much great about this phone.
But, after using it for a while now, I must say that I'm somewhat dissapointed
I'm simply missing this:
1) The possibility to record from the built-in radio to either AMR, WAV, MP3 or other.
2) The possibility to use the radio with out the headset inserted (yes, I know, quality will decline, but that's my choice!)
3) The possibility to access the Internet by using a PC's Internet-connection via BlueTooth - or even better built-in WIFI
4) The possibility to take screenshot of the phonescreen (actually, despite all the technological wishes, this is my single most wanted one!)
5) Built-in FTP client (If HTTP, WAP and POP3 is possible, so must FTP be!)
6) CIR infrared, so you can use it as a true remote
7) Fastforward when watching videos!!!
The option to turn off screenblanking so the screen doesn't turn black, but stays on!
Battery-waste is MY choice!
9) Faster "Fast"-port!!! Why just 0,3 Mbps?!? Why not true USB2.0 speed?!?
10) Flightmode!
11) Cannot be used as a faxmodem, so I can send faxes from my laptop via K750i connected via BlueTooth.
12) Ability to use PDF and WinZip!
Except for #6 these are all things I've gotten used to from using serveal Nokias in time, and suddenly NO!
I know what you SE-fanatics will try to defend it with: "It's not a smartphone"!
No, you're right: The K750i is definately NOT smart, but it sure doesn't have to be a dedicated smartphone to allow for these rather simple options.
And the fanatic totally non-userfriendly DRM-obstructions of Sony just makes it all worse!!!
Well, we should have been warned with the rootkit-case...
And, with all the DRM-hazzle, which totally destroys the overall usage of the phone, it is still realtive simple to get pirate-software, if you really want to!
And, in fact, the DRM-policy of Sony just makes it more preferred to get your hands on pirate-software, since with the pirate-versions of the software you can delete,back-up and re-install it.
And, having paid big bucks for my GPRS-downloaded software, that's sometimes I feel I have the right to: Back-up my software, and keep on using it, even if buying a new phone in the future!
No doubt that I will make myself a big spokesman for the company deciding on Nokia next time, and in the meantime, I'll go and buy one for my own money - probably the new N9300i
Oh, and on a personal remake: The K750i is WAY too small! What is it with this that cellphones have to be so damm lousy small!?!
Well, just my complains over the K750i - if I'm wrong, please, do feel free to argue that I'm wrong, 'cause it really annoys me that a phone which has been hyped so much is so lousy! |

plus EDGE would be good(see w810 )
I agree with these.A phone like this could be a perfect phone.

Well I have gone from the K750 to the W900 and now back to the K700. Don't really miss anything, which is slightly sad, but now I can see why some people didn't upgrade. I will now be getting a V3, and from there.... No more Sony Ericssons unless they make a great breakthrough and keep the phone stable.

The Nokia 6230i, which was the K750i's main rival when it was released, doesnt have most of the bits that you mention either.
If you want WIFI then you will need the Nokia 9500, XDA2s or the upcomong SE P990i.
As far as I know the K750i can be used as a fax modem.
The radio wont actually work without the headset, as that is the only FM aerial, so if you want to listen to just static then maybe se should change the firmware to let people listen to static.
I know the K750i doesnt have flight mode but the W800i does. You can flash a K750i with W800i software to get this.
Recording radio would be nice and stopping the screen going blank would also be useful. |

I didn't request WIFI - that was wishing
If you read carefully #3 you will that I wanted the option to use the PC's Internet connection - doing it so by WIFI was just an added bonus, but I would settle with BlueTooth.
Regarding the radio: Why don't they built-in the aerial?!?
It can be done on other phnes!
And no, the K750i only has a modem - not a faxmodem (like most other cellphones with modem actually have!). |

That's what i thought.I would use internet via bluetooth/wifi.Places that i go usually have wifi area.I wish we could access wifi via bluetooth as they use same frequency. But that sounds impossible. |

Holding a t230, i too imagined it should have had lot more than what it had. That was my freedom of thinking. Models and features at time and again.
