I've just bought a W800i, which used to be a K750i until it had it's firmware reflashed (though not by me). It came with the 64Mb stick that the K750i came with originally, and when I connect the phone to the PC via the USB cable it will read/write to the phone memory, but doesn't seem to recognise the memory stick.

I also have a W550i, and am using the SE software suite that came on the CD from that phone. I've downloaded and installed a W800i driver from the SE website (only a small file, about 350k), and it's still not recognising the memory stick or anything on it! The phone recognises it fine, it's just when accessing if from the computer. Also if you plug the usb cable in whilst the phone is switched off, it won't go into usb mode like the w550i does - does the W800i do this or is this a new feature from phones like the W550i onwards?

The W800i unfortunately didn't come with the software CD - do I need to use the SE software suite that would come with a W800i, or is it 'generic' and works with any SE phone? Would there be another problem (like software) that could be causing this? I'm running R1AA008 firmware.

Bump, any ideas? Couldn't see anything in the (k750i) manual about it, thought the memory stick was recognised as a 'removable hard disk'?

is the memory card faulty perhaps? or maybe you could try a card reader.

It seems to read the mem card fine in the phone (though once didn't recognise the memory card for some reason, removed and re-inserted it and it was fine)

I've been moving files from the mem card to the phone to transfer them to the pc, or using Bluetooth, but might use my girlfriends card reader if the problem persists.

But seeing if there's a way of accessing the mem card from the phone via USB - don't know if this is usually possible - am I doing something wrong?

Just tried cleaning the mem card's contacts, and after re-inserting it in the phone it failed to recognise it at all! Another removal/reinsertion and it did - and the PC recognised the memory card too!

Therefore, it looks like it might be a problem with the memory card.... or the memory card reader! I really hope it's not the latter as that may not be fixable

Noticed as well there's a tiny screw missing that looks like it holds the back of the facia on, doesn't look big enough to cause any other problems - or not I wonder?

maybe a pin is loose on the mem card, and when you insert it again, it makes contact fine?

I've just bought a 512Mb Duo Pro, and it seems to be accessing that fine. I wonder if it was a memory card problem? I now can't access the phone memory instead, but that's not a big problem as I'll be using the memory stick mostly for transferring files/photos/mp3s etc.
