Is there any code which I can use use override the lock code on a Sony Ericsson instead of having ot take it to a repair centre? |

no, I'm fairly sure not.
if there was, what would be the point of having the code in the first place?
the service centre will connect a cable and read the code from the phone

The Nokia's have a security code, but you can over-ride it with a master code which is determined by the IMEI number of the handset.

@Die$eL, might you be able to spread some light on this Nokia code that you speak of? My Mum (yes, I'm Australian!) has an old 3315 which we don't use any longer, but would still like to have it functioning as a backup phone...
Something isn't going quite right with the firmware and the phone has locked itself to her old Voda SIM (and her new network SIM is being rejected).
Its looking like we can't take the Nokia service centre option seeing as they require proof of purchase - and you know how old the 3315 is!
The phone is a lost cause without some way of taking the auto-SIM-lock code off it. Can you offer any suggestions? |

That \"master\" code, based on the IMEI, is only when the phone is delivered from Nokia.
If, or when, the user decide to change the lock-code, the \"IMEI-master code\" is no longer available.
The IMEi-code only works until the user chances the code.
If the user changes the code, you can no longer find the unlock-code based on the IMEI. |

i believe that this is a security measure to protect the phone especially if stolen or lost. unfortunately, it can now be unlocked using cables and unlocking softwares. |

Fatreg, would you believe that when I got the old Nokia out of the cupboard to try the IMEI code trick - it wouldn't even turn on! Not even with power. Goes to show which phones are built to last! I reckon my T65 could still pump out a msg if it really wanted to!
Thanks for the link, however! Still very handy! |

you can reset the user code on a SE using a cable and some free sw.
providing it doesnt use the fastport.
the codes on fast port phones can be read just needs to be done via da vinci or somewhere.
