Metal / quality housing / facias |

Everytime I get a new phone I think to myself
"I wish I could get a high quality housing for it"
because the crappy facias off ebay are low quality and plastic.
Why can't we have brushed metal? It would probably only cost double. I guess the answer is profitability. Even £5 for a piece of plastic worth 4p is a massive profit.
Still, you'd think they'd be available wouldn't you? |

I was wondering the same thing, actualy I would pay anything for a titanium fascia for my phone or maybe a carbon fiber one. And olso I would like this fascias to have that special cristal screen thats unscrachable. Dream away... |

yep, been there. think theres a discussion about it already....
3 materials i'd like housings to be made of:
Titanium
Carbon Fibre
Magnesium Alloy (already used on Sony Mp3 and some digital SLR's)
EDIT: here it is

I think there's a practical reason for this - I think those metals interfere with either the speaker or the reception of the phone, which is why you don't see them very often.
Otherwise I'd love metallic facias on my phone too!

Perhaps there is a way to make a mould of a case and... fashion our own?

The Nokia 8800 had high quality metals used on it, yet it didn't interfere with reception etc. |

I'm pretty sure it's just cost and the setup of the industrial process. Everyone uses plastic nowadays.
What suprises me is that there isn't a metal working factory chucking out higher quality casings,
instead all we get is lower quality crap from... Asia, well everywhere produces this stuff but theree especially |
