After Downloading a I-melody, why won't it let me edit it?

It only happens when the I-melody had been downloaded from certain sites, when you have received the tune and try to edit, it says... "cannot open item"...why?

From other sites it lets you open the melody and edit the effects and tempo etc.

Anyone shed any light onto this?

Been wondering the same thing- I actually have never seen one I could edit after downloading it. Of course you can always shoot it to your PC and back, but that is quite annoying...

Eric's Son: What site have you downloaded from where you could edit the resulting melody?

Some sites close their lock their downloadables to a Read Only document. This mean you can download, you can use, you can forward but you can't alter it. Kind of like copy right.

Thanks for the info. Seems kinda pointless for a text file, but whatever. Just out of curiosity, do you know how the server operator/webmaster makes this setting? Does he simply set the file property to be read-only or is it perhaps a different MIME type?
