Hi all

Anyone have a problem with the W900 sometimes shutting down (instantly going blank) when closing the phone...especially i find it happens directly after a call or a text

Happened about 2 times in the last week

Anyone else?

Thanks
Jamie

Ya that's happened to me a couple times, no idea why though. It seems to work fine after it starts back up

does your w900 get a white screen right after unpluging the data cable and freeze for some time and then recovers?

yes, that's because when you plug in the data cable, the phone shuts off the radio transmitters. when you remove the cable, it restarts the radios once again.

I'd just like to add here, i write a lot of SMS messages, opening and closing the phone a lot, and in the 5-6 weeks i've had mine, it hasn't rebooted once from closing the phone. I'm using the R5AF001 firmware for the last 4 weeks.

One opened phone related bug i have found though. Open the phone, press the slide button to turn on the keylock, now press loads of keypad buttons. you'll get odd characters appear onscreen then the phone will randomly access a few menus after a while of key pressing, before finally just forgetting the keylock altogether.

It's not a huge problem, as it's highly unlikely you'd want to keylock with an open phone at all, let alone then press lots of keys. I only found out about it because i needed to clean the keypad with the phone still on, so i just keylocked while i rubbed a cloth over it. Someone with really greasy hands had been using my phone! Anyway, strangest and also worst bug i've found on the phone so far.

Given SE's current track record of releasing buggy phones i am not in the least surprised that there are bugs ... hopefully they will be sorted...the K750 is pretty much sorted these days ... took a few months ... annoying yes, but inevitable in these high-tech times

Since when has any software worked straight out of the box ... games need patching, OS's need patching...soon our toasters will need firmware updates

Just wanted to make sure that others had the same problem and that it wasn't a hardware fault....didn't think it would be...ive had the S700, K700, K750 and now W900 and they all were buggy but i like SE phones so i'll live with it

Releasing new phones with lots of bugs is a problem most manufacturers have nowdays.
The reason I like is that it's so easy to upgrade the firmware when they release a new version instead of having to return the phone or go to a servicecenter.
I live in a small town far from any manufacturers servicecenter so if I can't upgrade from home I'd have to send in the phone and wait cpl weeks to get it back...
so is a good choise for me.

Had a few problems with freezing menus and a downloaded game. apart from that my w900 has performed ok. It will be interesting when theres an update to see what they can improve.

Just hope they don't "downgrade" any functionality

With the k750 it took a while before they got the picture quality back
Oh well....fingers crossed for an update in the not so distant future
