H'lo there.

I'm having a barrel of laughs with my K750i. It's currently doing its best impression of being bloody ignorant or forgetful.

I've popped some themes on there, and some mp3 ringtones - and couldn't see anything in the theme selector (in the settings section) or in the file manager for the themes or mp3s.

So, I wondered if I had a very old firmware. used the nice new SEUS which upgraded it to R1AA008 - phone started up again, and I could select my themes!

I then reconnect it to my PC... and miraculously, the phone cannot see the themes or ringtones again - but they're still there on the memory stick.

Even a reset hasn't helped.

What's going on? Is there some protection on the memory stick?

Should I reformat the memory stick, or delete everything, and cry?

Madness...

ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

I turned the thing off and then back on... and the things are back. I'm going to go insane

I wonder if the connectors to the memory stick get confused once I connect it to my PC...

...

Infact, that's it. I connected it back to my PC, and browsed through file manager. Suddenly, my theme files, ringtones, mp3s have vanished and aren't accessible from the phone. However the phone that's currently being used isn't listed - and it's there.

Okay, I'm not going to go mad...

If I just pull the USB from the phone, and look in file manager... everything is back.

So, problem solved. Ish. Why the hell does it do this? Think I need more vodka...

You will find the memory stick as a 'removable drive' shown
in 'my computer' when connected using the usb cable.

When the phone is connected to a PC with the USB cable the memory stick isn't accesible from the phone. It's like the memory stick is removed from the phone when you connect the USB cable .. but when you disconnect the cable... it will be back on the phone...

It is nothing bad with your memory stick or with the phone.

Sorry for my english ..

Correct, this is perfectly normal behaviour. It's how it works. You are unable to view the external memory of the phone via the phone's interface when it is connected to usb cable

So neither you nor the K750 are mad

max_wedge : you're wrong ... you can access the internal memory of the phone while it's connected with the usb cable ... but you can't access the memory stick.

Thanks all for the useful responses - helped me understand it. And thanks diet, for keeping true to form with forum posters worldwide, bless you.

I can happily know I'm not getting any more mad than necessary and go back to reading on the forums - ta!
