Bought a SIM free SE W550i and am using my Orange SIM card in it. Orange World doesn't seem to recognise it as a colour handset at all presumably because Orange don't sell this model, is there anything I can do to trick it into showing me colour content? |

Orange customise every Orange World page served based on the identifying part of user agent string supplied by the phone (in this case the first part of the string would be something like 'SonyEricssonW550i' for example). At their end they need a profile set up for each and every User Agent string they support.
Unless Orange specifically setup a profile then there is nothing that can be done and you can't force the phones browser to deliver alternative user agent strings either.
However, what is strange is that the W550i IS an Orange supported phone so they must be doing something funny with the user agent string which is stopping detection for non Orange branded versions.
Only reason I know all this is because I am good friends with a senior member of the Orange Multimedia team (ie the people that manage Orange World etc.). |

I now see that the phone is for sale on Orange.co.uk so I can't understand why Orange World still doesn't recognise my handset. |
